Remember the test roasts? The new one is live online and in the cafe! A natural Processed coffee from the Bookkisa group of 25 smallholder farmers in Guji, Ethiopia. This is one of our initial test roasts, used to hone in on the ideal roast profile for this coffee. We think it tastes nearly perfect, but it hasn’t been released yet. So, here’s a sneak peak!... What flavors do you taste? Let us know: [email protected]
Our newest Guatemalan offering from Juan Rodriguez marks both our first venture into coffees from this underrepresented growing region and plants the roots for our continued and evolving solidarity with the group of Xinca farmers located here, Cafe Colis Resistencia. Juanillo (Juan’s nickname) owns a 3.5 hectare farm, San Antonio, in the small town of San Miguel, which is located just outside of Mataquescuintla. This area is around a 3 hour drive directly East from Antigua,... where we source the majority of our Guatemalan coffees with Beneficio Bella Vista. Don Juan is a part of a multigenerational coffee growing family, currently farming on lands that were originally tended to by his grandparents. As with all of the producers Semilla Coffee works with in Mataquescuintla, Juan Rodriguez is an active member of the peaceful resistance against the Escobal silver mine. Like so many others, he partakes in this resistance as a true land defender - explaining that he does so to fight for the common good of our people, and in defense of our land against mining companies that destroy them and contaminate the environment. For more in depth information surrounding the Xinca resistance and specific events that made international news, please check out the additional information provided on our website. Despite the many challenges facing Cafe Colis Resistencia, they’re a collection of extremely passionate and dedicated people who are growing absolutely delicious coffee. This is a project truly built on collaboration, trust, and risk-sharing. Through our support, which we plan to grow in the future, we hope to position ourselves as a stable buyer and a platform upon which to center the stories of this coffee producing group. Many thanks to the folks at Bows x Arrows Coffee and Semilla Coffee, who established the initial connection to Cafe Colis Resistencia and have been organizing all of the logistics for export/import since 2018. This season’s selection from Juan Rodriguez exemplifies all you could want in a classically comforting Guatemalan coffee! We’re tasting: baked apple, pear, plum, brown sugar, Yoo-hoo, Tootsie Roll, sweet tobacco, hazelnut, almond, caramel

Draft latte: no ice, no wait, no dairy, lots of deliciousness!
Monday bundle update alert Y’all know we’ve been offering a Monday bundle deal for a while now and it has worked beautifully to allow you stock up for the week while helping us move retail bags after the weekend. We are changing the deal slightly to 20% off any two bags instead of two for $25. Don’t panic! This allows you to get a BETTER deal on staples like our blends as well as a chance to save more on extra special offerings like Maria Jimenez that we’re previously excluded from the deal. We think this is a win/win and we’re so happy to still be able to offer a Monday deal! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to message us or ask a barista
B A N D A N A S 100% cotton. Three colors. We love them and we hope you do too! thanks to our Director of Coffee @bigwetbrains for the design; turns out he can do more than just roast/source/cup/buy/brew coffee!
Monday calls for multiple coffees. 1.) cappuccino to get you going 2.) batch brew to sip all morning 3.) draft latte for dessert (no judgment if it’s a dessert first kind of day)
New T-shirt Same logo, new shade of blue that reminds us of the cafe! We just got these in so all sizes xs-2xl are in stock. Wouldn’t hate it if someone did a custom crop and tagged us in 1000 Faces T-shirt fashion photos
Let’s be clear: we truly miss having our customers hang out/study/read/chill/etc. IN the cafe. So much of what we enjoy about coffee revolves around people and having all orders be to-go seriously cuts in to our connection time with our patrons. That being said, we’re still committed to the safety of our staff and our community so we’re keeping our take away configuration for now. As soon as we feel comfortable opening the cafe, we will make a very conspicuous/joyful announcement all over social media so keep a look out!
Monday bundle day! 2 bags for $25 (excluding the extra special Familia Ortega Gomez) so come by the cafe, stock up for the week, and maybe get a latte while you’re here

FAMILIA ORTEGA GOMEZ We’re excited to present a coffee sourced through a brand new relationship for the launch of our Special Release series! No doubt this will become a staple on our menu in the coming years - a beautiful Red Caturra from Esnaider Ortega and his family’s farm, Finca Villa Maria. This new series will focus on showcasing coffees that we find particularly special or unique. This could be anything from highlighting coffee from a producer we’re striving to form... a direct relationship with to experimental processing methods to rare varieties. In general, the lots will be quite small; so they’ll only be on the menu very briefly! Both Esnaider and his father, Don Olgar Ortega Bolaños, share a meticulous attention to detail, genuine curiosity for experimentation, and belief that a more equitable and profitable supply chain is possible. We’re hoping to shift the traditional farmer-buyer power dynamic by working more directly with Esnaider to explore their cost of production, and we’re aiming to pay a true living wage for their coffees - which equates some of the highest prices paid for a traditional washed coffee in all of Colombia. The coffees from Familia Ortega Gomez are incredibly clean, sweet, and complex. Truly, this is a near perfect representation of Colombian coffee from the Huila region. We hope you enjoy it as much as we are! We’re tasting: fruit punch, cherry, raspberry, orange, apple, hibiscus, vanilla, nougat, almond, honey, white sugar, milk chocolate. @ 1000 Faces Coffee
