209th Broadcast Operations Detachment 11.02.2021

We started our 4-day Battle Assembly right with a training session on how to handle an active shooter situation while armed. We learned how to correctly enter a room, work with a partner, and defend ourselves in an attack on our Army Reserve Center. Thank you, Rome Police Department, GA, for sharing your guidance and expertise!

The Army Reserve Command is launching the Double Eagle App so Army Reserve Soldiers can stay connected. It'll be a helpful way for the 209th to keep up to date on all things Army Reserve.

Team, I wanted to share this from the 81st Readiness Division's Facebook page. This is the video Sgt. Prado, Sgt. Gresso, and Sgt. Diddle assisted with for Hurricane Florence Humanitarian Relief efforts. Also, their Facebook page has great resources, history, and content.

For Battle Assembly this weekend, we went to Coosa High School in Rome, Georgia. Our mission? To cover the story of the Coosa High School wrestling team as they compete in their Fall tournament. Go Eagles!

If you're in an active shooter situation, think "A. D. D." First, try to AVOID the danger by completely leaving the area or campus. If you can't, then DENY them the opportunity to attack you. Lock the door and barricade yourself in a room. (A barricaded steel door with steel frame will be impossible for an active shooter to enter.) If you can't AVOID or DENY the attacker, then DEFEND yourself. Active shooters commonly act alone, so you have strength in numbers. It won't be easy, especially if you're unarmed, but fighting back may be your best chance at surviving an active shooting.
