"This is what teaching English looks like here! One-on-one conversational English class. We focus on building relationships & introduce parts of the Bible into the curriculum!! it’s one of my favorite & it’s so much fun! Don't laugh too much at our drawings " /via Morgan Applegate #theworldrace #wrgapyear #costarica #teachingEnglish #adventuresinmissions

"Semesters stretched and challenged me spiritually and relationally, beyond what I could have imagined. I learned so much about patience, flexibility, trusting in God and His timing, and putting the needs of others before my own desires. Most of all, I learned the importance of a daily filling of the Holy Spirit, as well as the importance of inviting Him into every moment of my day. This experience has completely transformed my relationship with the Lord." "The phrase 'ministry is life, life is ministry' gained new meaning for me today A few of us from H squad started our ministry day by laying eyes on a forgotten park and processing how to begin helping it back to life. Not a small task to tackle. But as soon as we began picking up trash and clearing dead foliage, we were joined by at least 8 kiddos. They had the brightest smiles and the most eager helping hearts & hands. Thanks to google translate we got to talking with th...em as we worked together. We even sang happy birthday in Spanish to a kiddo who turned 13 today! Relationships blossomed despite the language barrier, and it was beautiful to be a part of and watch. Something was mentioned later about soccer and suddenly grins & sparkling eyes were all around; racers and Ticos alike. So we quickly finished our work for the day and one of the kiddos went to get a ball. After lots of laughs, a pair of broken sunglasses, and sore feet it was time for us to head home. We were all extra sweaty and extra happy from the game. Being able to be interrupted in our work to play a wild pick up game with these kids was absolutely the best. Having been on mission trips and in ministry for quite awhile, I get that life is ministry and ministry is life. But man, God just totally wrecked me with such a new, fresh, and very personal understanding of it today. This day will forever be in my mind & I am so thankful. Jesus you’re so cool. Te amo " /via @lainamakay

"Today marks one week of being in Colombia, since being here my squad and I have been working with Ciudad Refugio. Ciudad does so much for the people here in Medellin and their ministry is multifaceted. I’ve worked in the kids ministry and doing construction since being here. Ciudad brings in lots of kids multiple days a week for a lot of different activities. In the picture above my squad and I were dancing with all the kids before breaking up into smaller groups for a Bible... lesson. The space we are doing construction in will eventually be where Ciudad will host their weekly church services as well as a LOT of other things. Currently we’re digging out where they will eventually put drainage pipes. Having a great time serving and excited to see where else the Lord puts us in the coming weeks." /via @thejerodwarren #theworldrace #wrgapyear

"It’s the constant love & accountability each of us need. It’s the gentle comfort of knowing I am not alone in this mission. It’s the laughter that fills the room when your teammate notices you’re feeling defeated and intentionally lightens the mood. It’s the listening ear you need when your head is about to explode and your heart is overwhelmed and you simply just need to get it all out. It’s the words of encouragement shared when you’re starting to throw in the towel to g...ive up. It’s putting your teammates’ needs above your own. ...It’s the perfect example of how Jesus intended it to be. We live in community because we are united in the body of Christ." /gram via @hannasmithh

How do you resolve that God is good when pain and suffering exist? Today, Seth Barnes shares his wisdom on how God can be good in suffering, wrestling with questions about who God is and if He cares about us, and making sense of the hardest things we face.

"It took a whole lot of work. But we’ve found each other close. We chose each other, chose to love. Through reconciliation, vulnerability, encouragement, and fighting the battle of our minds with prayer we’ve created a safe space. Close, Kingdom community will change your life and character. We met with Jesus, meeting with each other. We felt it this moment on the edge of one of the natural wonders of the world." /via @wramerica On the World Race, you’ll learn how to dive into authentic community and realize there’s more there than you ever imagined! "Gap Year gave me a safe community to ask hard questions about my faith. Questions that I had been 'given' the answers to all my life, but never actually sought out truth for myself! We were able to sit down and read scripture about the Lord’s character and the way he loves but then everyday we’d go out and get to experience it for ourselves!" My biggest question when I saw my house was: ‘How do I pick up the pieces? How do I get started?’ Betty shared. An army of Samaritan’s Purse volunteersincluding a group of volunteers from Adventures in Missionsarrived to Betty’s home less than a week after Hurricane Delta made landfall and immediately got to work...

"DeRidder, Louisiana. Two hurricanes in less than two months. So much brokenness and devastation. But there is revival in this town. There is hope in this town. There are beautiful hearts in this town. God is present and moving in lives in this town. What an honor to be the hands and feet this week with these beautiful humans from Gap D. Every tree we moved, every roof we patched, and every bruise on our bodies are counted as all joy because of Who we did it for and Whose we did it for. Your Kingdom come, Father. It starts here!" /via @nicoleee_stepp

"It has been an honor to serve in Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta. God has brought an incredible amount of hope from the ashes in Lake Charles. My team has been working on a mud-out the past few days at our friend Berline and Wayne’s house. We have ripped their house apart, and through this tragedy, they have been beacons of hope. Samaritan's Purse is doing life changing work in this city and I’m proud to work alongside of them. We are asking fo...r prayers of peace for the homeowners that have lost everything, strength for our team as we are constantly rebuilding homes, and compassion as we minister to those who need supernatural love through God. One thing I’d have learned these past few days is that bad things will happen, but the Lord is always control the outcome. I am super pumped to continue to serve in Lake Charles and witness the miracles that are happening here" /via @brentworldrace, World Race: Gap Year See more

"we’ve spent 3 days together tarping and replacing shingles on roofs. sometimes its really fun. other times it’s more on the difficult side - but these ladies make it known to the people around them just how loved they are by the Father." /via @laynatolton, World Race: Gap Year

"400+ people needed help from the storm. My team and I went to 6 houses in 3 days and cleared out trees, tore down decks, cleaned out a shed, etc. We also got the chance to talk to each of the homeowners." Read more about what's happening in Louisiana right now at http://ow.ly/mXTZ50BSAZN

"(Before & After) This is one of the homeowners home our team worked on half the day yesterday. She currently is going through chemo & had the hurricane hit her bad. As you can see somehow God completely saved this car & it was only left with scratches. Within 2 days we’ve been able to help & serve 4 different homeowners, most of them are not capable of fixing their homes bc of age or etc neither do they have the equipment for it. Not only have we been been able to go into t...hese homes & bring the restoration/hope of Jesus but also sit & listen to the stories these people have to share. We came in thinking we’d do most of the pouring out but if anything these people have poured so much into us. Seeing the Lord move in mighty ways after a storm is the biggest privilege we’ve had in walking in the kingdom for the Glory of Christ." /via @angvlinaa Find 3 WAYS YOU CAN HELP WITH HURRICANE RELIEF at https://worldrace.io/ctwbu
