Today we completed our 10th week of school! We are grateful for the incredible commitment of our amazing faculty and staff. Let's stay safe outside of school so our students can stay in school: wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands & avoid gatherings. #DavisTogether
Silhouette Self-Portraits: Fifth graders filled their silhouettes with imagery and words that conceptually define them. #BeAmazed #DavisLOVE #DavisTogether
We kicked off an incredible week with Simchat Torah and continued with amazing learning experiences. Shabbat Shalom! #DavisLOVE #DavisTogether
This year we reimagined our Simchat Torah celebration by inviting Rabbi Moshe Druin, a Sofer (Torah Scribe) to teach the students about the many fascinating details of how a Torah scroll is written. After an engaging and entertaining learning session from the Sofer, all students on campus had an opportunity to contribute to an artistic rendering of our very own Davis Academy Torah Scroll. Pieces of this artistic and imaginative scroll will be displayed on both campuses as a reminder of this special day. The artwork will include beloved passages from the Torah as well as the names of all the weekly Torah readings and special quotes about the importance of Torah in Jewish tradition. #BeAmazed #DavisTogether #DavisLOVE
Seventh graders learned about artists who incorporate lines by sewing through photographs. The students then took photographs and used string in various patterns to enhance the meaning of their images. #BeAmazed #DavisLOVE
The weather and our Davis spirit were both incredible this week! Shabbat Shalom from our Davis family to yours! #DavisLOVE #DavisTogether
Second grade students ended this festive week by celebrating a special milestone, as they were presented with a collection of the Torah stories they learned throughout first grade during their study of the book of Bereshit (Genesis). Students were honored during a special ceremony in the Kaufman Chapel and each received a Yad (pointer) and Hoshen (plate) they made during visual arts to be used as they continue their study of Torah. #BeAmazed #DavisLOVE #DavisTogether
Eighth grader Ari W. is a Network Sherpa programing a pocket-sized micro controller called a Micro:bit. He is learning how software and hardware work together. The Micro:bit has an LED light display, buttons, sensors and many input/output features that can be programmed and interact with the physical world. #BeAmazed #DavisLOVE
It is Sukkot and students are enjoying our beautifully decorated Lower and Middle School sukkahs. Each grade level is celebrating, enjoying their lunch among friends, learning about the harvest holiday, and shaking the lulav and etrog. #DavisLOVE #DavisTogether
