Penelope was helping draw up vaccines for our patients' annual visits today! Vaccines are divided into two categories - core and non-core. Rabies is considered to be a core vaccines in this area for both dogs and cats, as well as being required by Georgia state law. In addition, we recommend DA2PP - sometimes called a combo or distemper/parvo vaccine - as a core vaccine for dogs and FVRCP (a vaccine against three different feline diseases) as a core vaccine for cats. We also ...carry multiple non-core vaccines, such as canine Bordetella, canine leptospirosis, and feline leukemia, which may be recommended for your pet based on their lifestyle. There is no "one size fits all" approach when it comes to vaccinating your pet, and our veterinarians can help you decide on the best plan for your pet. Since a rabies vaccine is legally required by the state of Georgia, we vaccinate a lot of dogs and cats against rabies here - can you guess how many this year? ANSWER: We have vaccinated a total of 2,996 pets against rabies this year!

Penelope is helping organize our in-house stock of prescription foods today! Prescription diets are specially formulated for various conditions, from kidney disease to food allergies. Can you guess how many different conditions can use a prescription diet as part of treatment? ANSWER: There are 18 different conditions that have specially formulated diets that may be used as part of a treatment plan. We stock several prescription foods that patients may need to be started on immediately, but if your pet's condition requires a prescription diet for long term maintenance, we now offer Purina VetDirect - your pet's prescription food shipped directly to your home! Ask our staff how to get enrolled at your next visit.

Penelope is back in the lab today to learn how to use the microscope! Our in-house microscope may be used to identify the type of bacteria causing your dog's ear infection, look for microfilaria in the blood of heartworm positive animals, or identify crystals in your cat's urine. One of the most commonly performed diagnostic tests here are fecal flotations, which allow us to find many of the most common parasites in our area and can be performed in less than 10 minutes. Can you identify the parasite(s) Penelope has found? ANSWER: On this slide, Penelope found roundworm, whipworm, and hookworm eggs, as well as coccidia oocysts. All of these can be problematic (especially in puppies) and should be treated as soon as possible.

Penelope is helping out in our in-house pharmacy today, and there's a whole section just for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention - Penelope has a lot to learn! The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recommends year-round flea and heartworm prevention for all cats and dogs, along with tick protection for at-risk patients. It was previously thought that these monthly preventatives were only needed during months of warmer weather, but that has proven not to be the c...ase, especially in Georgia! Fleas, ticks, and heartworms can cause serious illness or harm to your pet...and your wallet. It is far more costly to treat these problems when they arise compared to the cost of monthly prevention, and in some cases - like feline heartworm disease - there is no treatment available, so prevention is even more critical. With so many options available (can you guess how many we have at All God's Creatures?) to choose from, it can get a little overwhelming, but our veterinarians can help you pick the perfect parasite prevention plan for your pet! ANSWER: We have a total of eight flea, tick, and/or heartworm prevention products for dogs and cats in stock at All God's Creatures Veterinary Hospital - ask us which one is right for your pet at your next visit!

We at All God’s Creatures just want to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU. Thank you to all of our clients who have been patient and supportive during this time of precautions. The clinic is able to continue caring for your pets because of the hard working staff members who are behind the scenes- coordinating the appointments, caring for your pet while in the clinic, and providing medical care for sick babies. We could not continue to help so many sick animals if we did not have these caring individuals. Please thank the staff for being there! And as always, thank you to all our rescue partners who help so many pets in need every day.

Sunshine is our latest Angel Fund reciever! Due to her medical needs regarding a wound, she was taken in by the hospital from our local animal shelter. Our hospital is so thankful to those who donate to our Angel Fund to make it possible to help save pets in similar situations. We would like to thank Wings of Freedom Rescue and their local foster, Sandy, for taking Sunshine under their wing! It takes a village to help these sweet babies!

All God’s Creatures Veterinary Hospital COVID-19 Protocol -Due to the current COVID-19 spread, we at All God’s Creatures Veterinary Hospital will be doing our part to promote both our public and pet health. Following the recommendations by the American Veterinary Medical Association, we will undergo transitions as needed to help preserve medical supplies and promote social distancing. -We temporarily will not be scheduling routine/non-essential appointments and surgeries un...til further notice. We will be limiting visits to pet who need immediate medical attention. In doing this, we do not want your puppies/kittens to lapse on any vaccination boosters, along with not letting your pet lapse on heartworm prevention. If you need these please call us and we will discuss the appropriate course of action. We ask clients to post-pone wellness exams, nail trims and other services that do not require immediate medical care. We are also adopting the curb-side service protocol. -To eliminate the amount of outside traffic in our clinic we ask that clients call when they arrive and wait in their car for an employee to retrieve their pet. An employee will return your pet to your car when services are finished, and all communication will be done outside. We are very appreciative of our amazing clients being so understanding during this difficult time. We are proud to help serve you. Our hours of operation will be altered during the week of 3/30/2020- we will be open Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 8am-2pm to serve you. We will resume Monday through Friday operations the following week and will update as needed and as the situation changes.

All God's Creatures Veterinary Hospital 29.07.2020

Due to the current spread of the COVID-19, All God's Creatures Veterinary Hospital will be following recommendations to protect the general public as well as continuing to provide necessary services for our clients and their pets. We will be altering our hours of operation to 8am-2pm for the remainder of the week. We are limiting our appointments to pets that need immediate medical attention only. We are encouraging routine wellness visits to post-pone scheduling until April 1st to promote social distancing as encouraged by our state. Please stay posted for updates throughout this week as we are continually evolving for the safety of our clients, staff, and their pets. We appreciate your understanding during this time as we do our part in helping prevent the spread of this virus.
