Saving Money On Your Car Insurance during this time. I've had several inquiries over the course of the last few days so I assume a lot of folks have the very same questions. Here are some Q & A's. Q: I'm not driving as much, can we reduce miles driven so I can save money?... A: We can certainly do this, however the rate changes by a few dollars over the course of the 6 month term, this really doesnt save a ton of money. Q: Can I cancel my car insurance? A: If you want to keep your GA Tag you must keep your insurance, otherwise you will get sent fines from the state. Q: Can I reduce liabilty coverage to save money? A: You can certainly look at lowering liabilty, again we are all hoping this is short term. Savings would be minimal and if you lower and then forget to call back you are exposing yourself to a large liabilty. Q: Can I take off comprehensive and collison coverage? A: If you do not have a loan on your car, you can take it down to liabilty only if you wish. Keep in mind, comprehensive coverage covers losses that are not your fault such as theft, fire, and hitting an animal. This coverage does not cost as much as collision. I recommend at least keeping this coverage on your vehicle. And again, if you remove these coverages you will need to rememeber to add them back on once you start driving regulary again. Q: I am paying money for a car I am not driving. A: Well, this isnt really a question, however I understand it. I recommend making sure you have all disocunts on your car insurance policy. This would be a great time to add that discount for monitored driving habits. If you arent driving as much, I bet whichever company you are with they are giving discounts for the monitoring of your driving habits. Also, as of today Allstate and American Family are the two companies in GA that are working on sending relief checks to clients. This has to go through state legislation first, but it is coming! On another note, I have seen some more activity in car break-ins. Please remember items left in your vechile are not covered under your car insurance but your home/renters policy. So be mindful of what you are leaving in your car. And if your car is broken into, you would need comprehensive coverage on your car to cover the loss. I only post this to help.
