I’ve got something on my chest I feel that’s worth sharing. As a coach for the last 7 years there’s something I’ve learned. Especially when it comes to youth ba...seball. These kids are ALL different, they come with different attitudes, personalities, backgrounds, ethnicities, and perceptions on life. Here’s the thing, as a coach, it’s never easy always adapting trying to bring out the best of each and every player. The process isn’t something that happens over night. The expectations are almost NEVER met. If we were able to meet our expectations, we would stop growing. What I want you all to understand, the good, the bad, the ugly, this beautiful game can save kids lives, give them direction, give them a home, maybe an escape from reality, structure, and family that understands what it’s like to go through failure and that we will ALWAYS pick ourselves back up. That being said, LOVE THEM. UNCONDITIONALLY. The one thing that I’ve taken to heart over the years is my kids will ALWAYS KNOW THAT I LOVE THEM. Several of my players tell me they love me, and I ALWAYS tell them. We never know what we can do to make a child’s life better. I’m just asking all my coaches in youth baseball, love your players, care for them, care for their future. Never let that part of you as a coach disappear. I love my boys. That’s that. All of my Titans, and any former player that has blessed me with sharing the love for this game. You guys have changed me, molded me, and given me direction in my darkest times. T E A M M A D D I E 2020 When Abigail was selected as a Team Maddie kid, she was fresh off a surgery where they removed a brain tumor named George, caused... by the cancer know as astrocytoma. Since then she has grown from an awkward adolescent to a young woman with a beauty that will be sure to break hearts. She attends Ola High School where she is on the cheerleading squad, and has spent time organizing her own fundraisers to benefit pediatric brain cancer research.
