Must have a proficient understanding of a Water and Sewer infrastructure and how a water system works including; how to isolate water mains with gate valves, knowledge of fire hydrants, water meters, water pressure, water hammer, disinfecting water mains and water quality. May specia...lize in many different skills such as; operating small to heavy equipment, install pipe and materials according to plans, investigating and solving distribution system problems. The Utility Foreman will also be responsible for providing direct in-field supervision of a pipe crew working on all phases of construction, maintenance, repair operations and programs of the company including all other related work as required. The Foreman is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. The Forman will work with city officials and personnel to insure that the work is being completed per specs and as the city requires. The Foreman serves as the front-line Safety Officer for the job site and is directly responsible for the Safety of his/her crew. In this role the Foreman will direct the crew in proper installation of water mains, sewer mains and storm drainage projects including emergency and night work. 2. Pipe Layer/ Installer: Responsible for assembling and installing pipe systems and pipe supports. Ensures that the trench is dug out, graded and prepped for pipes. Responsible for gathering and aligning pipeline to prepare it for connection. Directs tractor operator on where to properly place pipeline sections. Responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe systems for storm drain, sanitary sewer and water mains. The Pipe Layer is the ultimately responsible for inspecting the correctness of all in ground installations. *Applicants must have valid CDL'S*
