1. LISTEN TO MUSIC THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD :: Practice listening to all kinds of music! Research indicates that music classified as ‘extreme’ can actually make you feel calmer. So even if some people might think it’s too much (punk, heavy metal, etc.) for some folks that kind of music can be extremely calming because it’s an emotional regulator. When we listen to music it can connect us with our emotions and ultimately help us feel better + calmer. 2. WRITE :: There ha...ve been studies on the physical effects of writing and researchers have found writing has the potential to make you happier and healthier. And, like anything else in our life, the more you do it the easier it’ll be. So if you’ve never journaled, no worries, you can still start and reap the benefits. 3. PRACTICE MEDITATION :: There is a LOT of research on the benefits of regular meditationincluding lowering stress and reducing anxiety. Obviously the longer you do it, the greater the results. Sometimes sitting quietly with ourselveseven for only a few minutescan help us quiet our mind, our thoughts, and our body. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing when it comes to meditation, sometimes it can be just a few minutes of silence to turn our attention inward. I’d love for you to share what things you do to relax and unwind in the comments below. Hi there. My name is Morgan Rysdon and I'm an Alexander Technique teacher. Today I'd like to talk to you about how to calm down and relax during an upcoming election. To be honest, I don't usually bring politics up because, well, what your politics are doesn't change the fact that I want to help you feel better {in your mind + body.} However, that said, I also can't deny I've become aware of so many of my students, family members, and friends who are experiencing heightened l...evels of stress, more anxiety, and difficulty relaxing these days due to the very realand very emotionalresponse to this year's upcoming election. Now some might say that because this year's election has been shadowed by the current pandemic, civil unrest, or the fragile state of our economy.well, you see, this list (even without the addition of a dramatic election!) could easily sound stressful. Well, good news, friend, it doesn't matter what side of politics you're on, this week's video is for you! If you've ever felt stressed out about anything(s) OUTSIDE OF YOUR CONTROL watch my videoand be sure to follow to see more videos like these!

New headshot thanks to the talented @anthonycollins_art! And with this I thought now would be a good time to re-introduce myself. Hi! My name is Morgan and I love helping others. ... I’m an Alexander Technique teacher, speaker and coach. I am incredibly excited about what I do. The more I teachthe more people I helpthe more driven I become to do it even better. If you don’t know the Alexander Technique is a mind-body technique that teaches consciousness and awareness, eliminates pain + improves posture and performance. Most of my students would describe me as a passionate + enthusiastic teacher! My family would agree, but they might also say despite teaching awareness I can still be clumsy sometimes. I’ve got 2 small human beings I adoreNyah (6) and Ilia (3) who teach me the importance of staying present, playful and patient everyday. My husband, Alex, is a talented designer who continues to make me laugh dailyeven after 18 years together (We just celebrated our 11th anniversary last week ) Fun facts about me: I’m a vegetarian, a unitarian universalist and a bona fide optimist. I love ALL humans, animals + mother earth . My life (to date) has not always been easy, but it has always been filled with joy, love, laughter and mounds-and-mounds of purpose. What kinds of things excite YOU in life? I’d love for you to share YOUR purpose with me in the comments below! . . . . . . #purpose #atcenterstudio #mindfulactors #mindfulactors #thealexandertechnique helpingpeople #teaching #mindfulliving #practice #gratitude #happiness #extremelyblessed #motivation #changeforlife #mindfulness #AlexanderTechniqueworks #betterposture #posture #healthyliving #painfree #newhabiteveryday #newyou #outofmycomfortzone #todaystheday #buildingrelationships #gettoknowme #introduceyourself

"My shoulders are always tight!" Or "My neck keeps feeling stiff" Or "I have a constant ache in my back." ... I often hear these kinds of remarks from students who come to me because of pain or discomfort. And, as strange as it sounds, when I hear these things I can't help but get excited. Now wait(!)before I lose youlet me explain. I get excited to learn when my student has a body that is successfully communicating with them. And note, I didn't say comfortably communicating with them (although that is something to aspire to as well!), but a body that is "successfully" communicating with them. When our bodies are being heard we can learn from them what the issues are and how we've been unconsciously contributing to the problem. And, as a result, we can take better care of ourselves and our bodies. Watch the video to learn more!
