The pictures above depict the before and after from a procedure known as a vocal cord injection. Unfortunately, this patient underwent a procedure by another surgeon that resulted in the nerve to her vocal cord being injured. After such an injury, the paralyzed vocal cord cannot move over to the midline and patients are left with a hoarse voice and swallowing difficulties. The bottom picture shows a bulkier left vocal cord after the injection procedure (compared to the top picture). After the injection procedure, the normal vocal cord on the right can now move over and successfully touch the bulkier injected left vocal cord.

Chronic Tonsillitis is one of the most common conditions treated by ENT surgeons. Tonsils are typically removed for chronic infections. This picture shows the right and left tonsils after removal.
