AOC is having a ball celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas with our staff. We "kicked" off this First Day of Christmas by honoring National Sock Day. AOC employees are sporting their favorite fuzzies, knee-highs and light-ups for a chance to win a prize. Patient spotlight-Austin Thomas Austin was the pitcher for his college baseball team until a shoulder injury ended his career. Austin put off having surgery to repair his torn labrum and rotator cuff until years later when he applied to the Fire Fighter Academy, and knew the old injury had to be addressed. Dr. Logan Fields performed surgery to repair Austin‘s shoulder, and after a short month and a half of rehab, Austin reports he had full use if his shoulder and arm!... Unfortunately, just a few months later, Austin was working around his house and suffered the same injury on the other shoulder. The pain was so great he couldn’t even use the turn signal in his truck. This time he immediately reached out to Dr. Fields who quickly got him scheduled for the same surgery on his other shoulder. With two surgeries in three months under his belt, Austin reports he’s not had a single problem with either shoulder in two years. He has full use of both shoulders and arms and is enjoying his role as a fire fighter and a weekend fisherman! Thank you, Austin, for sharing your story and congratulations on the great catch! ...A 50 lb Amberjack caught in Destin, FL last weekend! See more
