Questions will be asked during the story to encourage interaction and comprehension skills. At the end of class everyone, will be given a chance to share a favorite toy. FALL 2020 CLASS HIGHLIGHT: Business Entrepreneurship, 12-17 y/o In this virtual class students, we'll work through every step of starting a small business. We will brainstorm, source materials, discuss expense to profit ratios, examine small business laws for Georgia, and create a basic business plan for their idea. Students will leave the class with the confidence and ability to start their own business immediately. Students will also receive a book to keep about starting ...and running a small business as a young person. Books (cost $16) will be shipped directly to you and used throughout the course for information and homework. FALL 2020 CLASS HIGHLIGHT: Photography 12-18 y/o In this virtual class, we'll begin by focusing on the art of taking portraits. Lighting, posing your subject, composition, and how to convey particular emotions and feelings through photography will all be covered. Any digital camera can be used, from DSLRs to cell phones. We will cover many different styles, including B&W headshots, high art style, Instagram worthy, couples shots, backgrounds, and also learn about styling fo...r a shoot. We will discuss filters, "Photoshopping", cropping for interest, as well as basic touch-ups. Computer editing will be used on some weeks. Students will need to be able to download Gimp (a free drawing program available for download) onto a home computer, and have access to a camera phone or camera. There will be homework in this class, as we will not be able to wander away from our Zoom call to produce photographs together. FALL 2020 CLASS HIGHLIGHT: Minecraft Labs, 6-10 y/o In this virtual class, we will get together each week to learn about a topic and then build it in Minecraft. Some examples of topics we may cover: electricity (building with red stone), plants (build and maintain a garden), architecture (build a house), and money (build restaurant/store). Students will be expected to work during the week to complete their build assignments. We will discuss topics and show off previous work... during class time. If there is interest, we might add an additional build assist day. Atlanta Homeschool Cooperative's Fall virtual class offerings are on the website. Registration will take place in August, and class start the week of August 31. The class fee is $45/child, and one class has an additional fee. You must register be a member and pay the $20 dues prior to registering for classes. Please let me know if you have any questions.
