Atlanta Vocations

A Prayer for Our Veterans Loving God, We ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the Veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women, in the thousands, who are coming home with injured bodies and traumatized spirits. Bring solace to them, O Lord; may we pray for them when they cannot pray. We ask for, echoing John Paul II, an end to ...wars and the dawning of a new era of peace, as a way to honor all the veterans of past wars. Have mercy on all our Veterans. Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in non-combative posts; May their calling to service continue in their lives in many positive ways. Give us all the creative vision to see a world which, grown weary with fighting, Moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. Hear our prayer, O Prince of Peace, hear our prayer. Amen.

When we discern, we are trying to "sift apart" different possibilities in hopes of finding the one that is most life giving and where joy is found! This is your annual invitation to reflect on the idea of vocation. How are we progressing along that path, and how we may be called to pray for, support and encourage others in exploring their vocations. In the presence of the Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament, ask Him to reveal his plans for you. There's a story told about St. John Vianney, in which he often saw a farmer sitting in the back of the church, who spent long periods of time before the Eucharist. One day, St. John asked the farmer what he did during his time spent in adoration to which the farmer responded, "I look at Him and He looks at me". Eucharistic Adoration is a time for us to concentrate on Jesus present before us and allow Him to look back upon us with love.

Archbishop Hartmayer visited Saint Vincent de Paul Seminary in Florida and celebrated Mass this morning with our Savannah seminarians along with the men from Atlanta.

On the Memorial of the missionary, St. John Capistrano, we pray for our men to have the zeal to be missionary disciples of Christ in their lives.
