Augusta Alumnae Chapter- DST 16.01.2021

National Blood Donor Month has been observed in January since 1970 with the goal of increasing blood and platelet donations during the winter one of the most ...difficult times of year to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. During the winter months, inclement weather often results in cancelled blood drives, and seasonal illnesses like the flu may cause some donors to become temporarily unable to donate. The Southern Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. urges the community to become active in learning more about how supporting blood donation efforts can save lives. #SRDST See more

The Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (AACDST) presents its annual health initiative, ‘Wiggin Out Wednesday’ in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join us for the premiere of WOW at 6pm today on YouTube https://youtu.be/bPrVUV65VI0 This health initiative is two-fold: (1) To provide support to cancer patients. (2) To provide important educational information on the vital role hair care and nutrition can play during treatment and recovery. T...his year, we partnered with The Lydia Project to ensure resources would serve cancer patients throughout the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Due to the current Pandemic, many of the community resources are temporarily unavailable to assist cancer patients. The Lydia Project has not closed its doors and has been overwhelmed with our community's growing needs. The Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated's partnership with The Lydia Project helped provide resources that will allow their doors to remain open.
