Well Daylight Savings time kicks in this weekend and it looks like warmer weather is heading our way. As a result, more folks will be on the road and more traffic, which meanings more accidents will occur. Always have a plan and protect yourself by taking the time to review your current auto insurance policy. For 2020, I want my friends and other drivers to be informed and avoid potential headaches ahead of time. Usually, in life when you learn something it is the hard way an...d hindsight is 20/20. Driving and enjoying your automobile can be a great experience, but when unexpected events occur, such as theft or damage to you or your vehicle, then it is important to have the right insurance coverage to protect yourself. Consider the following when reviewing your automobile policy with your agent: First consider "Gap Coverage" for your auto loan. If you don't have it, and a theft or the total loss of your vehicle occurs the insurance company only has to pay actual cash value, and that usually will not cover the loan amount financed and you will be stuck with the outstanding balance. "Gap Coverage" eliminates this possibility! Next, check your policy for "Medpay Coverage". If you are injured in an accident you may suffer outstanding medical expenses that will damage your credit. Don't count on the at fault party's insurance to pay you quickly. They actually may have to wait to pay you, due to you needing months to heal up, or you may have to wait on a hospital lien or health insurance subrogation to be worked out; during this time your credit suffers. It is better to have "Medpay Coverage" to pay your bills off early. Having this option will definitely give you peace of mind. Last, many accidents result in medical expenses that exceed the Georgia mandated minimum liability limits of $25,000. To insure that you are not exposed to this possibility, please purchase "Add-On Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage", it will allow you to make an adequate recovery when the at fault driver is uninsured, underinsured, was not a covered driver or left the scene. As an attorney with 30 years of experience, I have noticed that 80% of the parties that I have helped have experienced one of these pitfalls, because they did not purchase the proper insurance coverage to protect themselves, so please take a moment and review your automobile policy and then enjoy your time on the road!
December is flying by! Xmas will be here before you know it! Be Careful on the roads. People are extra distracted during the Holidays!
10 Things You Need to Do After a Car Accident Over six million car accidents occur each year in the United States. Fortunately, most of them involve only property damage - damage to the vehicle as opposed to the occupants. But one in three accidents involve personal injury to the driver or passengers and out of that number, two out of every ten accidents lead to fatal injuries. If you are involved in an automobile accident, there are certain things you can do to protect yours...Continue reading
