A strong storm system will approach Georgia Thursday night into Friday. This system has the capability of producing a few strong to severe storms with the possibility of an isolated tornado along and south of the I-20 corridor. In addition, heavy rain will be possible, north of the !-85 corridor in Northern Georgia.

Well, in typical 2020 fashion, we regret to inform you that the New Years Eve fireworks show will not take place this year. We want to thank everyone for the continued support and pease stay tuned for fundraising events in the coming months. We look forward to serving you in 2021 and a return to normal, whatever that may look like.

We were able to assist Gold Cross with loading a patient this morning after a motor vehicle accident. Another patient on their way. Also responding were Louisville Fire, Wrens Fire, and members of Hillcrest Fire Department.

We are monitoring the threat of severe weather tomorrow. Please stay alert to changing weather conditions and make preparations to keep yourself and family safe.

Don’t forget our annual New Years Eve hot dog supper and fireworks show in downtown Avera. The hot dogs will be ready by 6PM and the fireworks around 8. Please bring your family and friends and join us Tuesday night.

It appears that we are once again under the gun for severe weather today and tomorrow. Please pay attention to weather alerts and stay prepared.

According to Channel 6 we have been upgraded to Numerous for the severe weather this afternoon. Please monitor the storms and stay safe.

Tornado Watch for Jefferson County until 7PM

We will be having our annual New Years Eve Fireworks Blowout Monday night. We will start out at 6 PM with a hot dog supper and fireworks around 8:30 PM. Everyone is invited to come enjoy this time with us, at no charge of course and we look forward to seeing you. UPDATE: Fireworks have been moved up to 8PM due to weather and fog. Head on this way if you haven't already.
