As I work on choreography for "Jazzing: Memoirs in Jazz" based off of the photography of Herb Snitzer who captured images of Black Jazz greats and the struggles of the Civil Rights era featured in an astounding exhibit at The Bremen Museum, I am drawn to the words from his subjects like Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie. The work pays homage to the Black and Jewish relationships formed from the love of this brilliant art form. I feel blessed to create my work in the spirit of these Jazz greats who unapologetically created music from their soul and core! Waverly Lucas
