It’s Dangerous to Vacuum Without a Suction Brake A worker in a confined space, operating a vacuum hose from a vacuum truck, could easily be seriously injured by the suction if the hose does not have a suction brake attached to it. The most common suction brake or vacuum breaker is basically a T-shaped device in the vacuum hose near the operator. By pulling a cable attached to a long rod that fits over one opening of the Tee, the operator or his attendant can immediately relea...se vacuum at the end of the hose in the event of an emergency. Proper training and a ready access to the suction brake cable by either the operator or the attendent, can be the difference between a safe job and a potential injury or fatality. The suction brake (or vacuum breaker) in the open position, releases the suction at the end of the vacuum hose.

On Saturday, October 3, Blackwell’s, Inc. sent a crew of 6 Associates to work on a 10-Year old unfinished 4,400 SF concrete floor. We cut and filled floor joints, utilized HTC grinders with dust collectors, and used hand grinders around the walls. With a 1500 grit finish, we left the concrete floor surface looking like marble. And this was all in one day!
