A selection of the white camellias in Bonaventure Cemetery. Feel free to hum your favorite background music. If only I knew a musician.

Here's a quick cell phone shot I took today of Wimberly Jones DeRenne's crypt. Unlike most other graves in Bonaventure Cemetery, DeRenne is buried in an underground vault. A descendant of Noble Jones, DeRenne changed his name from Jones to DeRenne because he was tired of being confused with all the other Noble Jones'. When DeRenne died, he owned more than a hundred thousand books on US and Georgia history. Upon his death, his books were donated to the University of Georgia library where they may still be read today.

Not Bonaventure related at all but my wife and I were at Plant Riverside tonight for an outdoor music thing and I grabbed this video during the show. Hope y’all enjoy.

Hi guys! I took the summer off due to Covid but I'm back up and running strong. While I was down I was interviewed by The Bluff Magazine and they ran a very flattering story on me, Bonaventure, and the Bonaventure Historical Society. Their photo game is pretty strong as well. Y'all check it out, start on page 20. https://www.palmettobluff.com//the-bluff-/fall-winter-2020

Bon Don is temporarily closed due to the pandemic but that's given me the chance to go through some old photos I've taken around town. Here's a shot from the Fort Pulaski causeway, hope y'all enjoy.

Y'all check out this beautiful work-in-progress from the sculptor Walter S. Arnold. This 5' tall tree stump will soon be installed in Bonaventure.

Well, this is interesting. Apparently, the Haint Blue paint in the Owens Thomas house isn't the original color. Gotta love Science.

Our governor has decided that tattoo parlors, barbershops, massage clinics, and tour companies can now reopen, provided proper PPE is used. This would be the same governor who said he didn't know that non-symptomatic people could transfer the virus, so... I prefer to receive my medical advice from a doctor, so Bon Don will not reopen until the medical experts say it's safe. Right now, that projection is early June, but there's really no way to tell for sure at this time. Y'al...l stay safe, listen to the experts, and follow the advice of the CDC. I hope to see you all on the other end of this mess. Adding a picture now because posts with photos get more views.

Hey folks. I hope you are all doing well. Here's a short story about the natives that once occupied this area. --------------------- The Bilbo Mound in Savannah, GA is one of the oldest known examples of architecture and civil engineering in the Americas and certainly the oldest in North America. Currently, it predates any mound or public works project in Mexico.
