Bremen Parks & Recreation Department: Senior Center 07.12.2020

Thank you so much to the Temple High School Future Farmers of America and the West Georgia Council on Aging. Led by their teacher Phillip Cherry, the students provided 75 bags of Sweet potatoes for our homebound and congregate seniors just in time for Thanksgiving!

We lost one our oldest and most active members this week, 97 yr old Julius Davenport. He was a WWII veteran, dance enthusiast and loved leading and singing the Church hymns on Wednesdays. He also was an active member at the Tallapoosa Senior Center and attended all the Haralson Council on Aging and Carroll Council special events.. Our hearts go out to his family and all his many friends and lives that he touched. Below is a message from his daughter: Julius Davenport Nov19, 2...020 Dear Friends and Family, Last night, Lauren and I sang to Dad (Julius Davenport) many of his favorite gospel, country and his favorite Elvis, I Cant Help Falling in Love With You. He passed peacefully in his sleep with at-home comfort care of Hospice for the stomach cancer symptoms. We will be having a private viewing opportunity for immediate family and then honoring Dad's wishes to be cremated. Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth is handling the arrangements and at some point in the future when C19 is under control, we will have a memorial and graveside service in Buchanan. Thank you all for your prayers and he loved his time with all of us and passed with a full heart to be with our Lord. Thank you, June Davenport Dean See more
