Per the IRS website: Due to Covid-19 E-signatures temporarily allowed on some tax forms Taxpayers are encouraged to e-file forms this year, whenever possible, because of COVID-19. To protect the health of taxpayers and tax professionals, the IRS is temporarily allowing the use of digital signatures on some tax forms that can’t be filed electronically.... This will help reduce in-person contact and lessen the risk to taxpayers and tax professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will also allow people to work remotely and file forms on time. Here is a list of additional forms that can be submitted with digital signatures, if they’re mailed by Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. Form 3115, Application for Change in Accounting Method Form 8832, Entity Classification Election Form 8802, Application for U.S. Residency Certification Form 1066, U.S. Income Tax Return for Real Estate Mortgage Investment Conduit Form 1120-RIC, U.S. Income Tax Return for Regulated Investment Companies Form 1120-C, U.S. Income Tax Return for Cooperative Associations Form 1120-REIT, U.S. Income Tax Return for Real Estate Investment Trusts Form 1120-L, U.S. Life Insurance Company Income Tax Return Form 1120-PC, U.S. Property and Casualty Insurance Company Income Tax Return Form 8453 series, Form 8878 series, and Form 8879 series regarding IRS e-file Signature Authorization Forms There’s no specific digital signature product tax professionals are required to use to e-file these forms.

Payroll Tax Cut A lot of people have asked me about this topic and I am blessed to say that I have been given the opportunity to soon be doing online seminars in which I will speak on this as well as other topics. But let me say this about the payroll tax cut, it's not that simple. So before you get upset or excited know that it is a lot more to it than simply receiving a bigger check for the remainder of the year and then a smaller one for the first four months of 2021. As y...ou may or may not know, employers have to agree to participate. Agreeing to participate is a big liability for most employers because you as an employee may not be with the company in 2021. It is the employer's responsibility to get the taxes back. If you are no longer with the company, how can they get them back from you? Furthermore, most companies payroll system had not even been set up to offer that option when the payroll tax cut went into effect. Now, if the company decides to participate, there is something you can do. The payroll tax cut affects your social security tax, which is 12.4% of your pay. Your employer is responsible for 6.2% and you are responsible for the other 6.2%. If you start receiving a larger paycheck, this will indeed hurt you during tax season. You can go to HR and have them take more federal and state taxes out of your pay. This way you are protecting yourself for the upcoming tax season. You will still receive smaller paychecks for the first four months of 2021, but with a larger refund, you will be able to invest, save, and spend wisely. There is so much more to this than you think.
