SB 404- Senate Bill 404 would deny Georgia driver’s licenses to immigrants who don’t have legal status in the U.S., but have been granted deferred action, or permission to temporarily stay and work here for humanitarian reasons. SB 404 would apply to immigrants who were illegally brought here as young children, battered spouses, parents with seriously ill children and crime victims who are serving as witnesses in police investigations.

Governor of Georgia has called in the national guard to help out with stranded, fragile people and others. Some children are having to spend the night at their schools, unable to make it home. There are 940 accidents around the city, over 100 people hurt in the city in those accidents. All Kroger stores are open for people who are stranded. They can go there and find a place to stay tonight rather than being outside in the cold. There is a state wide event here, not just Atla...nta. The government, schools and businesses today all left to go home at the same time, thus the gridlock that has occurred. No way to salt/sand the streets when they are completely blocked. City has 40 snow plows and 30 spreaders to help out. There are still students who are stranded on buses. The freeways now are looking like rush hour with wall to wall traffic just sitting there. I do feel that kids who are having to spend the night at school that provisions are there in place for them. See more

This weekend marks the beginning of the end for the Georgia 400 toll booths, as road crews start the year-long process to dismantle the toll plaza.
