The Byers lab is thankful that we work in so many amazing places in #georgia! It’s important to remember the native peoples that lived in these places long before us. This summer, grad student, Julie B. was on the Georgia coast for fieldwork in the mudflats and saltmarshes. It's a bit of a let down to wake up for sunrise fieldwork only to find the tides never drop low enough to access the site. But things don't always go according to plan, and you just have to go with the flow. That's just the nature of fieldwork, and we wouldn't trade it for the world. #ecology #research #WomenInSTEM

With 342 sets of gills processed, 105 shrimp cages crafted, 75 decorator worms collected, 5 mud flat transects and 2 alligators wrestled, the Byers lab signs off on another great field season! "Sea" you next time on the Georgia coast!
