The Food Box Program was a great success and we were able to provide the local community with 1,100 Food Boxes. This was a marked increase from 700 Food Boxes we originally believed we were going to have on hand for the event. A special Thank You goes out to the City Work Crews who were out there in the wet weather helping to distribute boxes and stood alongside with the awesomely dedicated women of the Administrative Division of the Cairo Police Department! Cairo P.D.'s own Administrative Lieutenant Karen Cromartie is also commended for the successful planning and execution of this Food Drive, Great Work LT!

Just a reminder to not be a victim of a phone scam. There are plenty of scams out there, but we often hear more about the Social Security Scam over all others. The premise is that your social security number has been compromised. The caller ultimately wants you to pay a fine and usually threatens you with arrest. Do Not send them money. ... The Social Security will never do these things. Unfortunately our elderly fall prey to these scams more so than not. Talk to your family and friends. Make them aware that these people are fraudulent and only after money illegally. On Wednesday, 01/13/2021, at 06:16 AM, officers were dispatched to a robbery at the Easy Stop located at 995 Hwy 84 East in Cairo. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the store employee, who reported he had just been robbed. He went on to report that while in the store, he had been grabbed from behind and dragged to the front register by an unknown suspect. The employee was then told to lay down on the floor, as the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the front register area. It is not known at this time if the suspect was armed and no injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a male, wearing a grey hoodie with black pants, black shoes, black mask, and grey gloves. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Johnny Myers at Cairo PD 229-378-3096 or at [email protected].

Just a reminder to everyone, every time you get into a vehicle, buckle up. Did you know that young adults, between the ages of 18- 24, are less likely to wear seatbelts? Men are also less likely to wear seatbelts versus women. #Seatbelts #SavesLives #BuckleUp #ItsTheLaw #CairoPoliceDepartment
