A happening is a con podium show of both living expressions of and static fixtures of art. Fiber arts, poetry, painting, mixed media, photos, and more all thoughtfully installed amid acts of dance, song, storytelling, humor, performance art, strippinga living thing. A Happening. No phones. ... No cameras. No limits. This ain’t no talent show

Campers, if you are arrested at protests and need help making bail, you can contact the Camp Office at [email protected] or 470-366-1191 . At this time, 20% of Camp Hecate’s *total merchandise sales* (not just profit from those sales) have gone to assisting with bail for people arrested while exercising their right to protest. . We would like to encourage other businesses to step up and do things that make a difference for Black people in this world. Start with the folks in... your immediate vicinity and work outward accordingly. . Your social media is cool we guess, but your praxis is what matters. See more

I don’t know how to explain to you the pain and fear of knowing that at any moment, you or someone you love could be killed. That you could be jogging down the... street. Buying something from a convenience store. Sleeping in your own home. And just like that, your life is over. Maybe suddenly. Maybe after endless minutes of terror crying out that you can’t breathe. Begging for your mother. And that people will have to march and make signs and hashtags for there to even a chance that justice is served. That people will have to defend your innocence despite clear pictures and videos. I could have been Breonna Taylor. We live in the same city. I can’t stop imagining what would’ve happened if the door to my condo was busted open unannounced. How myself and my husband would have tried to defend ourselves. How my white husband has the privilege that he probably wouldn’t have been arrested for attempted murder of a police officer because we’ve accepted that white men are allowed to defend their castles and their families, but black men aren’t and it takes protesting to have the charges dropped. I don’t know how to explain to you the fear I have for the lives of my brothers, my father, my cousins, my uncles and my friends. That they could be at the wrong place at the wrong time and say the wrong thing or make the wrong move and lose their life for it. I don’t know how to explain that to you if you’ve never felt that pain and that fear yourself and never will. But if you could try to understand for just one moment, you might understand why cities are burning. You might understand why those of us that don’t condone it still understand it. You might imagine wanting the entire world to burn if your loved one was murdered in the streets. Our world has been on fire for a long time.

There’s no other way to say it, we are supposed to be coming up the mountain today, and we aren’t. And it sucks. It is absolutely grievous. Campers, we cannot express today you how our souls ache to not be with each and every single one of you. We will be together again, but it’s cold comfort, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. ... Campers, you are still VISIBLE to us. You still BELONG with us. We TRUST you to care for yourself best however you can. We hope you can find and extend GRACE to yourself. Today sucks. We should be together but we aren’t. It’s uncomfortable, we hate it, and that’s okay. . . . . . . . . . . #fourpillars #trust #visibility #belonging #grace #tvbg #camphecate #wishyouwerehere #wishherewerethere

This is taken from one of Booth the Camp Dog's favorite spots: the other side of the lake looking toward what we affectionately call the Cuisineatorium (because our Director is overly impressed with her own jokes ) Every opening night at Camp Hecate, Booth visits each cabin to do nite-nite rounds and let every Camper know they are seen, they are loved, and they belong. Booth wants to wish you a good night, Campers, from our home base to yours.... 1 = 1 Good Boi

What's your "ranger" name? Park rangers are definitely an iconic symbol of the National Park Service, but parks don't just hire rangers. We employ mechanics and... museum curators, data analysts and landscape architects, engineers and educators, law enforcement officers and firefighters, scientists and more! Want to learn more about working in the National Park Service? Find information at https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/how-to-apply.htm See more

One of the motives behind our ission to replenish women is that we believe that when someone's cup is consistently overflowing, they cannot help but pour out into their communities and microcosms. Leslie, a camper from our inaugural session, went out and did exactly that! She's working with an organization we LOVE called Girls on the Run International. This program helps young people all over get some fantastic support and guidance as well as community, a lifelong stress ma...nagement and empowerment practice in running, and just plain feel better. Leslie and her teammate are raising funds for their program and need our support to provide their runners with the safe practice space they deserve. Check them out here: https://www.gotrwnc.org/fun/TeamCupcake-GOTR-WNC-SoleMates We're so proud of you, Leslie!
