The following is a statement from Piedmont-Henry and the Piedmont System related to COVID-19 and the current surge in cases in our immediate area. Please continue to follow CDC recommendations for Masks, Social Distancing, Washing Hands, etc. Statement As a healthcare provider that serves communities representing 70 percent of the state’s population, Piedmont’s percentage of COVID-19 patients has remained fairly consistent relative to the state’s number of hospitalized patien...ts throughout the pandemic. Trends indicate that about 9 percent of all COVID cases result in hospitalizations, and so as cases increase, Piedmont’s numbers reflect that reality, just as any other system’s in Georgia would. Throughout the pandemic, we have been in constant communication with the governor’s office, which has helped to provide us with vital staffing and supplies as we have faced the same challenges that every system across the country has faced. Our staff, though stretched and tested in previously unimaginable ways, is committed and resilient. We are encouraged by the arrival of vaccines and continue to vaccinate our workforce as quickly as we can. Until COVID vaccines are widely available to the public, which remains several months away, it remains critical that we all continue to mask up, wash our hands, maintain social distancing practices, and stay diligent in our fight against COVID.

Please note that beginning Monday, November 30, 2020 after 9:00 AM, signs will be going up for a detour of Colvin Drive between Davis Lake Road and SR 42 for reconstruction of this section for industrial traffic and improvements at both the rail crossing and signalization at SR 42. Closure will be at a minimum of three (3) weeks but may be longer due to weather delays and coordination with utilities and railroad. A Detour is posted below using Davis Lake southbound to Jackson Street northbound back to SR 42. Alternatively, traffic coming from the East headed NB to McDonough can use South Bethany to Harris Drive.

Traffic update. NB I-75 is backing up to Exit 216 with heavy traffic around Tanger Outlet. Use alternate routes to avoid the Bill Gardener crunch between Tanger and the Freeway. SR 42 and SR 155 are obvious alternates but can become overloaded quickly.... South Bethany to Bethany is a great eastern bypass route during crowded times and can reach up to East Lake above SR 81. Below town is Tanger and Indian Creek Roads leading to Lester Mill Rd that serves as a western bypass. Using these not only allows you to move more quickly, but it also frees up room along that congested Bill Gardner Pkwy for our shopping guests. Have a great holiday weekend. #shoplocal
