How many puppies do you see? (Hint: at least 1 is hiding!) This was the third of 3 c-sections today for a total of 14 puppies - all healthy!

Jack loves his new donut pillow. (Don’t tell him it’s to protect his surgery site!). We just found out today that his tumor was benign and we got complete margins. Yay for Jack! Sometimes we have to use an e-collar, but often times body suits and donut pillows can work.

Have you ever wondered what it means when we do a skin or ear cytology? We are looking to see what kind of infection your pet has and how severe it is. These slides show two different bacterial infections. The first one shows cocci, round bacteria (see the dark purple dots). The second shows a more mixed bacterial infection with cocci and rod shaped bacteria. Babies! We tried to get these little ones to line up for a picture, but they were just too active! Thus morning the owner thought Mom was in labor 3 days before her due date, so he brought her right in to be checked. He was right and the pups were in distress, but we were able to safely deliver the entire litter via emergency c-section! #cliftwoodanimalhospital #theriogenology
