While I’ve always thought highly of Dr. Stephens, his team, and Coastal Rheumatology Associates, I feel obligated to express my admiration at the way they have ...been handling their operations in light of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic. This situation has not been easy on anyone, and the compassion and organization the Coastal Rheumatology team has shown during this time is truly remarkable. When I went for my infusion yesterday, I was called well in advance and informed of the changes that were being made to ensure my safety and the safety of everyone else. I was instructed to call when I arrived for my appointment, which I did, and I was greeted by my (masked) infusion nurse who retrieved me from my car and escorted me to a private room outfitted with everything I normally have in the infusion suite. It was evident that everything had been recently sanitized and set up for me and all proper protocols were utilized during my infusion. Not only did the staff handle my appointment with the utmost professionalism as they usually do, but several staff members went above and beyond to check on me and ask how I was holding up during this crazy season we are in- I even got a visit from Dr. Dean himself! It was nice to get a few moments away from all of the stress and enjoy my time with people who truly care for me. I highly recommend Coastal Rheumatology Associates to anyone with rheumatology needs. This has been one wild week with long hours, buckets of tears (mostly mine ), and a lot of changes so we could still provide for our patients in the safest possible way. All appointments with Dr. Stephens, Dr. Degenhardt and our wonderful physician assistant Elizabeth will be virtual via Skype or FaceTime. For our infusion and in office injection patients, we will continue to provide those in office. However, we have changed our process to provide this service in the ...best interest of everyone with separate rooms as well as a different entry way. Further instructions will be provided to you closer to your appointment date. We sincerely thank you for your understanding and patience with us during this difficult time.
