In the midst of these strange times in wake of COVID-19, Charity asks a powerful question in her May newsletter: "How do we accept that which is beyond our control?" For most of us, Easter this year was likely one that we will never forget. During this period of quarantine and social distancing it can be hard to celebrate this season of hope and renewal. This month, Dr. Rick takes a look at Easter in light of COVID-19 and taking care of yourself during difficult times.

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, Compass Consulting wishes to remind you of our teleconferencing and phone appointment options as well as share our response plan. "To Our Valued Clients and Their Families, We have always offered teleconferencing and phone sessions to our clients who prefer them, so we are well prepared to utilize this option as needed so you won’t need to miss therapy sessions. It is extremely easy to use video chat option via Skype or Zoom that... connects you directly and seamlessly to your therapist via a HIPAA-compliant connection or, you can just use phone minus video for a simple phone call session. Video conferencing closely replicates the experience of in-person session using HIPAA-compliant software that ensures confidentiality; clients can speak with a therapist in real time over video using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. All one needs is an Internet connection and a (fairly) quiet place for conversation. Video teleconferencing eliminates the need to travel to an office or sit in a waiting room, thereby saving time and money, enhancing privacy, and reducing exposure to germs. Also remember While we are open, we are sanitizing the office several times daily and providing hand sanitizer to all clients! We are sanitizing surfaces that are regular touch-points frequently each day, such as door handles and faucets, to help lessen the spread of germs. We will also be washing our hands several times throughout the day and encourage clients to do the same. Additionally, our restrooms and waiting rooms have disinfectant wipes, spray or cleaner for your use should you want to wipe down a surface (such as a faucet) right before you use it, and hand sanitizer available. Call our office if you are interested in setting up a teleconference or phone call session or have a question about our health practices. Please read the message below from the Compass Consulting family regarding our response to COVID-19: "To our valued clients and their families, One week ago life was pretty normal. Now, a short week later, our world is springing into action to respond to the virus...... ...pandemics have been declared... ...states of emergency have been enacted... ...schools have been closed... ...sporting events have been suspended... ...travel bans have been put in place... ...and quarantines are now in effect. It's scary how much things can change, and how quickly. It is completely legitimate to be afraid in the face of uncertainty, news reports, and a world that seems to be devolving rapidly into chaos... Here are the steps we are taking: We at Compass Consulting & Affiliates LLC and Choices Treatment Program are seriously addressing concerns about COVID-19. Our staff is heeding the recommendations by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), and WHO (World Health Organization). We are making available our counseling sessions via phone calls and teleconferencing to provide continuing care for our clients. We ask all clients who have fever, symptoms of a respiratory infection, or have been exposed to a person with the coronavirus, the flu or any other communicable disease to schedule a teleconference with their therapist rather than come into the offices. Also, we will continue with ongoing individual sessions with the first priority to protect YOU- the Compass Family. We are here to help and to continue providing the highest quality of care to each person seeking treatment. We are maintaining a safe, sanitary environment including disinfecting and increasing existing hygiene protocols including: Increased sanitary procedures: We will be periodically sanitizing doorknobs, touch-screens and any other shared surfaces. We ask that you use the hand-sanitizers conveniently located throughout the building before seeing your counselor. Check-in/Waiting Room: We are reducing exposure to comply with social distancing to ensure safety measures are in place. We assure you that client and staff safety is our number one priority.
