Cutting Edge Boars 10.12.2020

Troy picked up #43 this evening for me and will be attempting #44 first thing in the morning. I don’t think it’s exactly a lock, but highly plausible. Stay tuned...

#42 ended up being a hammer (and I think the dogs felt like nails)... I took off work early yesterday to track one for a friend. Not sure what happened but the dogs never did anything I had much confidence in. In the meantime, a fellow tracker called and had a busted leg that he couldn’t get to til after work. I had planned on going back to work but as much as I enjoy tracking busted legs I just took the rest of the day off. Put the dogs down and tracked him 250-300 yard...s pretty easy and then they started struggling. Made it another couple hundred yards then and finally jumped him. He made about a 650 yard circle and came back to a wet weather pond near us and the dogs overran the track. I started walking them around the pond and they jumped him and ran him 500 yards or so back to where he was shot. Made a hard right and went another mile and a quarter like he was shot out of a cannon. We hopped in my truck and tried to get closer and turned down what I thought was a dirt road. Ended up being a long drive way but when we got to the house the dogs had the deer caught 535 yards behind it. I stopped and sent the hunter to the house to explain what we were doing to the homeowner and I took off to help the dogs. And help indeed... they were sure proud to see me. I talked the ole buck into surrendering and leashed up the dogs and headed back to the house. What a trophy, what a story. Pretty sure the hunter thought I was full of it when we took off like we did.... good stuff! See more

#41 yesterday in the rain. I wasn’t too sure on it but the dogs did great. It had really been raining hard but he was dead at 95 yards and they went straight to him. That makes 10 deer and a hog for me on the year, 20 for Cejay, 9 for Cameron, and 4 for Troy (yes I realize that doesn’t total 41, but a few of us went together a couple times)

Cameron picked up #39 and 40 last night. #39 was for a young man, and nice deer, dead and less than 100 yards. He said #40 was a stem winder and as you can see, a dang fine deer, a bow kill at that. Buster ran him about 500 yards and caught him but turned loose when Cameron got ahold of him . I think he knocked his light out of his hand and all sorts of good stuff before he got him handled, but success nonetheless. Good work! Gypsy missed out on the action because she ran the backtrack.

No picture for #38 but Cameron took the pair and ran a doe down for a guy. More or less grazed her low behind the shoulder. 468 yards and they caught her. I still haven’t looked back because I never think about it when I’m home but pretty sure that’s 100 total for Buster.
