The Judicial Emergency Order has been extended to May 14th

On April 3, 2020 the Governor of Georgia issued Executive Order "expanding the definition of Essential Services and clarifying enforcement provisions in Executive Order 04.02.20.01" This includes visitation exchanges of a child pursuant to a custody order as an essential activity; meaning the Stay in Shelter does not supersede a previously issued court order on custody. Given the all the changes in the last 24 hours, including the GA Supreme Court issuing an updated order yesterday suspending all non-essential court business across the state until April 14th, we’ve updated our position in these strange times. We at VG believe that public health and safety is of the upmost importance and that we should do our part for the greater good. Thus we made the tough, but responsible decision to close our physical office only. Updated information on court closings in Georgia

Dear Clients and Potential Clients: In the wake of the spread of COVID-19, we at the firm wanted to take the opportunity to reach out and share developing information as it pertains to your pending case and operations here at the firm: 1. The courts have issued Emergency Judicial Orders addressing courthouse functions over the next 14-30 days. The courts have suspended all non-essential matters. We are including the Emergency Judicial Orders which currently impact... our clients here with this notice just click the below link and you will be taken to a shared Drop Box folder with the orders out of the various jurisdictions. Over the next week, we will be addressing each case impacted by these orders and will reach out to you individually with an update and direction on how the court plans to handle your already scheduled matter. Denise presented on the new Equitable Caregiver statute and Jazmyn presented the case law update. Every year, in lieu of sending paper cards, the firm selects a different charity, foundation or cause to support. This year we donated funds to Action Ministries Metro - Atlanta. We will also be donating supplies to the clothing closet run by their Women's Community Kitchen. If you'd like to add to the pile of sweatshirts, blankets, gloves we already have - please drop items off at our office. The Community Kitchen is a program of Action Ministries that serves lunch Monday...-Friday to women and children many who are homeless or in transition with housing. The staff on site informs me that the clothing closet is in need of jackets, sweatshirts and sweatpants, sleeping bags, blankets, underware and adult diapers. They are also always in need of 45+ gallon trash bags and vinyl disposable gloves. We will be delivering these items next week on December 20th when we will be on site at Grace UMC Atlanta, which houses the Women's Community Kitchen, to participate in the Legal Clinic with Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc.
