Wow, DES students ROCK!!! We had three students participate in the first ever Dekalb County School District Virtual Social Studies Fair this year. Gabriella Shin: "How Does a Household Income Affect Children's School Virtual Learning?" Samarth Iyengar: "Was the Tet Offensive Campaign a Turning Point in the Vietnam War?" Sharanya Kar Bhowmik: "Who are the Jarawa and How Has Their Culture Survived on North Sentinel Island?" Two of our DES students placed in the competition! W...e are so proud of the hard work all the students put in to create and share their virtual projects. Congratulations!!! Congratulations to 3rd grader Aneet Chhabra whose submission for the Arbor Day Art and Essay Contest has received the award of honorable mention. Aneet will receive a certificate and a book. Her artwork will be featured with the other honorees, on the Trees Atlanta website soon in the form of a collage. We are so proud of you Aneet!

Our No Place For Hate Activity for December celebrates the diversity in our families, traditions, and cultures. We are encouraging students to participate in a Family Journey Show-and-Tell. Students may draw a picture, share family photographs, describe meaningful cultural items/celebrations/traditions, dress in clothing representative of their family or heritage, or invite even invite their family to participate in a video recording!
