From my colleague, UGA's Dr. Anne Shaffer: Parenting is hard right now. My academic research is on parents' emotion regulation and emotion communication, and I gave myself a nudge to do more to share this work with the public, not in a journal or behind a paywall. Like many working parents during Covid, I read countless articles on how difficult it is to cope with the current challenges of parenting: interrupted workdays, childcare disruptions, schooling decisions, apocalypti...c news stories - and these articles are either short on concrete advice, or are buried in words. I wanted a streamlined antidote to doomscrolling and overwhelm. So I made some 1-page tip sheets based on our work, with help from my students and collaborators. These tips can't fix systemic problems, but they may help a parent and family survive and thrive as much as possible.
