Congratulations to one of his quarter's Miracle Worker Award winners- Narda Lindsay, Dining Services Associate with Food and Nutrition Services! Why was Narda a Miracle Worker Award winner this quarter? "Narda is one of the kindest, most detail-oriented people I have ever met. I mean not to exaggerate when I say she is always going above and beyond for her patients. Whenever we see Narda arrive in the morning, we are confident that everything will go well with the patient’s ...meal orders. Narda makes it hard to notice that we are not her only unit. If a patient checks in late, she will call them for their menu. If they do not answer, she will call the floor to investigate why they did not answer and how she can work to get their menu order. If a patient has a diet order change, she will call and verify with nursing staff and change the menu when necessary. Narda's gestures may seem simple to her, yet they are so meaningful to those looking forward to something positive in the midst of their circumstances!" See more

Congratulations to one of his quarter's Miracle Worker Award winners- Diane Naylor, Unit Secretary on 3 Southwest! (*Diane is pictured second from the right) Why was Diane a Miracle Worker Award winner this quarter? What can I say about Diane that would give justice to the dedication and hard work she puts into every single day of her job? In all of my many years at ESJH, I have never come across an employee who takes more pride in their work than Diane. She is the mother be...ar of our unit and every day she works she goes above and beyond to ensure that every request asked of her is filled. This often means staying late or even working on things on her days off. Diane is someone who takes the time to get to know you, not only as an employee of ESJH, but also as a person. I am often times reminded on her kindness when I look down to see Happy Birthday texts or messages asking how I am if I have been feeling under the weather. As someone who has dedicated over 35 years of her life to Saint Joseph’s, she is one of the most knowledgeable coworkers I know. I hope I get to witness Diane at the helm of the unit clerk position on our floor for many years to come! See more

Congratulations to our most recent Daisy Award winner - Margaret Howell, RN in Critical Care! DAISY Foundation #DaisyAward Why was Margaret our most recent Daisy Award winner? "She spends long periods of time in COVID rooms with her patients, talking and comforting them, washing their hair, face trimming and making them comfortable. With one patient that was very complicated and was now at end-of-life, I found Margaret alone in the room on the side of the bed with both of her hands on the patient praying while the multiple IV pumps and machines quietly kept on. Her hand was gently patting the patient's chest and her foot was tapping and through the baby monitor outside the room you could hear her singing to him. Margaret was an angel by their side, singing the patient to peace in his final moments.

Congratulations to Emory Heart & Vascular Center’s cardiac surgery team for achieving a three-star quality rating in two key overall metrics from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Adult Cardiac Surgery Database (ACSD). The STS ACSD is considered the gold-standard source of data for quality cardiac surgery programs. Three stars denote the highest category of quality among cardiac surgery programs, achieved by less than 8% of programs nationwide for the current reporting period. For coronary artery bypass surgery Emory achieved a three-star ranking for the third year in the row, becoming the only health care system in Georgia to do so. Equally as remarkable, Emory has achieved a 3-star rating in mitral valve surgery for the second year in a row. Please join us in celebrating this extraordinary achievement.
