Letter From Your District Manager Dear ESS staff and families: As you know Governor Kemp posted an Executive Order closing all schools from March 17th April 1st, 2020. This order also extends to all school related activities. We continue to monitor the latest updates and guidance on COVID-19 with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Education. In addition, please check with your school districts website for all updated communications relate...d to the coronavirus. www.SCCPSS.com. Many districts are also providing meals to the children in their districts. Please check your districts website for information regarding these programs. In all cases, the need for ESS substitutes is very minimal and your local ESS team will reach out to you regarding job placement opportunities. We are working diligently with districts daily to offer any type of personnel that they may need in the next few weeks. Regarding unemployment benefits, you should reach out to your local unemployment agency as there are pending bills in Congress to implement relief packages to the public. ESS does not qualify for the initial Paid Sick Leave bill as it is only for those companies with 500 employees or less. There are other extended unemployment benefits that may be available and we will keep you notified of any information as soon as we know of them. Please contact your local agency to review your qualifying programs. Remember, this is a very fluid situation and we will continue to work with school district officials to develop the best path forward. We understand the seriousness and inconveniences of the current situation and will convey any new information as soon as possible. The most important thing is your safety and the safety of your family, friends, and neighbors. Please use caution by utilizing social distancing, disinfecting your surroundings, avoiding large crowds, and keeping travel to a minimum.
