Ashley and Dougie, yesterday was a dream! After a decade of dating, through good times and hard times, you waited through 2020 so your friends and family could be present to celebrate. And what a celebration!! @swansonsignatureevents @charlesmorriscenter @ivoryandbeau @sugarwhiskco... @chefnickmueller @emmacollinsbeauty @eventworksrentals @bossplayapro See more

You are NOT going to believe the connection between Sam, who married beautiful Kara last week on Hilton Head Island. Sam and Kara both grew up in the same town, Albany, GA. (As did I!) But they didn’t meet until Kara moved back from Lake Tahoe, where she’s a partner in a law firm. Shortly after starting to date, Sam was diagnosed with cancer. He gave her the green light to leave, but she would never do that. She was by his side every step of the journey.... As successful business owner, Sam had always had a philanthropic heart. He gave generously and served on boards, including some who fight cancer. After his own fight, and his ongoing philanthropic work, he was well equipped to serve Kara, when recently she, too, was diagnosed with cancer. They took a short break from her treatments to allow her to feel well enough for this all-important trip to Hilton Head, where they quietly said their vows. These two both have such big hearts. They made me feel so loved and appreciated on this gorgeous day. Honey, they insisted I share a glass of Dom Perignon, and I wasn’t about to be rude and refuse. The connection between this couple and me? It's a crazy story and that along with more photos are on the blog. They made me feel so loved and appreciated on this gorgeous day. Honey, they insisted I share a glass of Dom Perignon, and I wasn’t about to be rude and refuse. NOW for the other incredible story about this couple. When Sam called me to discuss my availability to take photos of their elopement, we realized we both grew up in Albany and went to the same high school. Sam asked if I still had family in Albany, and I told him I did, including my sister Lydia. Lydia Livingston? Who lives on Acker Drive? Honey, he knew the exact address! Turns out, my sister now lives in the house that Sam grew up in! YES! I have spent the night many times in that home. And my niece, Tabitha, who’s my studio manager, grew up in that house. And Sam’s business partner lived next door. He told me later that once he realized our connection that I was going to be his photographer no matter what. Well, unless my work was just plain horrible, and honey, with his good heart, he probably would have hired me anyway. If you live in Albany, these two are indeed a treasure for the city! Quick trip to Charleston this weekend with my husband, Mark. Had the most gorgeous, sunny day! I love Savannah with my whole entire heart, but I do have to say that I think Charleston MAY have us beat in the porch department. Honey, I think could live out the rest of my days on one of those porches. I would need a swing. And somebody to bring me beverages, but otherwise, I'd be just fine.

Where to begin with Ian and Alexis. From the moment we met, it was clear that these two people are extraordinary. Accomplished. Brilliant. Kind. Gracious. After meeting their families, I saw that they both grew up surrounded by great love and by great expectations, expectations that they would be successful, yes, but more important, that they would be GOOD people. Throughout the day, I heard only joy. No sadness that Covid and now rain storms had changed ALL their wedding da...y plans. Just joy. No stress. Just joy. Joy to be surrounded by those they loved. To see two families come together as one. At the reception, Alexis's father Wayne thanked each person for what they had contributed to the day, including the staff and vendors. He thanked us by name. And today, Wayne and his wife, Carmen, called me to thank me and my assistant - my son, Will - and praise us far beyond what we deserved. It made me cry, to feel so loved and appreciated. I have never been in the presence of so many people - aunts, uncles, cousins - who all seemed to share this love and kindness. They all radiated goodness, and I don't even know how to describe it. But Carmen and Wayne said to consider myself part of the family now. And I do. And it's an honor. This year could not have started any better. Rows of trees with yellow leaves at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum made the perfect setting for portraits before yesterday's intimate wedding ceremony!

I met Josh and Stacy on the night he proposed. Josh had hired me to capture the moment. It poured rain, and Stacy just wanted to go home. But Josh talked her into a walk in Forsyth Park, and he proposed right in front on the fountain. Today, they said their vows at the beautiful Georgia Southern Botanic Garden. SO gorgeous. (I was supposed to get married there. Had invitations printed ... and then we decided to say our vows at our church, Pittman Park United Methodist, right... across the street.) So fun to be there with my son, Will, helping me. And SO fun to see their officiant and pastor, Ken Philbeck, who is a friend of ours, too! EstherGriffinPhotography.com
