We are seeking an actively engaged and enthusiastic Ophthalmic Assistant who wants to work close...ly with patients and team members and provide chair-side doctor assistance; perform diagnostic tests as required by provider, and administer treatment as allowed and ordered by the doctor. Responsibilities Ophthalmic Assistant Responsibilities: Clinical Skills: Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications Use of Autorefractor and Lensometers (manual) Perform Visual Field tests, OCT, Fundus photos, A-scans, Tonometry & Pachymetry Perform Visual Acuity and Pinhole tests Perform Applanation Tonometry Act as scribe for physician If not certified, prepare for C.O.A. exam (to be taken within 12 months) Discuss contact lens fitting with patient Monitor patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care questions Review exam generated instructions with patients including medications, procedures, post op care, etc. Qualifications The Ophthalmic Assistant Qualifications: Possess at least one year of experience in a clinical setting. Experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician preferred, but not required. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail. Demonstrate superior computer skills. Highly energetic with positive attitude. Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours. Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting.
