#upliftwitheileen It is Holy Week, and I’ve been working on a post that would nicely go with the observance of Easter. But, while doing my devotional this morning, I came across this Spurgeon daily, and I had to stop. This might just be what I needed to prepare my heart for this holy week: Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12... It is a curious fact, that there is such a thing as being proud of grace. A man says, I have great faith, I shall not fall; poor little faith may, but I never shall. I have fervent love, says another, I can stand, there is no danger of my going astray. He who boasts of grace has little grace to boast of. Some who do this imagine that their graces can keep them, knowing not that the stream must flow constantly from the fountain head, or else the brook will soon be dry. #thoughtfortheweek Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When He had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. John 19:28-30 What exactly was it? What was finished? Matthew Henry wrote eight ans...wers to that question, including this one: "It is finished, that is, the work of man’s redemption and salvation is now completed, at least the hardest part of the undertaking is over; a full satisfaction is made to the justice of God, a fatal blow given to the power of Satan, a fountain of grace opened that shall ever flow, a foundation of peace and happiness laid that shall never fail. Christ had now gone through with His work and finished it." In Gethsemane the night before, Jesus had prayed, Yet not My will, but Yours be done. On the cross He now cries out, It is done. #thoughtfortheweek It was later in my life when I heard the story about my parents going through some tough times when I was child. They were new Christians and had moved our family to Florida. Times got tough financially, and upon losing our home, we had to move to a rental house. My brothers, sister and I did not process, in our young minds, the great impact this could have had on our family. As children we did not associate the loss of things as a reason to lose security a...nd hope because we perceived this coming from the love my parents had for us and one another, and their faith in and love for the Lord. We watched God work in our family through those and other times and in many wonderful ways over the years. As I grew up, I learned more about the teachings of the Christian faith and how to articulate them. Though this was a needed part of my maturity, I also realize now that God wants to fill our lives with stories to help us remember His work in us, instead of filling our lives with things to accumulate. Are you facing difficulties tough times? Set you heart on trusting God, and believe His promises. Let His work become the foundation of your life, your marriage, your family, and your work-life, as you experience His ways of guiding and providing for you. These will be the stories that will give you lasting satisfactionones you will never forget throughout all of life. PMC The LORD's deeds are great, eagerly awaited by all who desire them. His work is majestic and glorious, and his faithfulness endures forever. He does amazing things that will be remembered; the LORD is merciful and compassionate. #thoughtfortheworkweek THERE IS HOPE IN A BROKEN WORLD In light of the events that recently have transpired in the US and the reactions to those events, we would do well (regardless of political position) to consider the words of Jesus Christ when He said, A house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25). No nation of people can survive if governed with an attitude that says, You must totally agree with me or make me your enemy. History has plenty of stories descr...ibing the lives of leaders and movements that have adopted such undermining tactics. They lead by treachery and promote divisiveness and distrust in order to bring the change they desire. Sadly, history also shows that when a nation goes down this path, it eventually implodes and disintegrates from within. Both our nation (US) and the world are very fragile now at a tilting point. All this tells us what we know people need the Lord, and they need hope, the sustaining kind only God’s can provide (Romans 5:1-5). Much is being talked about right now. I think the best words we/you can offer at this time is through our humble prayers to God that our leaders and people would see the Lord of the Universe at this time, humbling ourselves and asking Him for forgiveness and help. God Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. (Acts 17:25-27) PMC This article was written by Paul M. Curtas, General Director of FCAP.

#IntheJetstream 50 Years and Running I was in my early 20’s when someone brought me to an FCAP luncheon by the Atlanta airport. The impressions of... that day are still very vivid in my mind. I quickly noted how the people there were friendly and that their meeting centered around the person of Christ. That day a pilot shared his testimony, how Jesus Christ had delivered him from continuing down the wide road of destruction and gave him new life. His testimony resonated with God’s love, grace, and forgiveness. The Lord not only saved him personally, but also restored his badly broken marriage back to a beautiful one. It was such a refreshing time that day. In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined that someday I would be serving as General Director to this group of peoplebut 16 years later the Lord did make it happen, and what a wonderful journey it has been!
