Director of Golf Ryan Skipton and one of our seasonal assistants, Mike Abate, recently finished their coursework and passed their test to become a TrackMan Certified Professional for Level 1. The Ford Team Scramble consists of an 18-hole two-person team event. Teams will play a Scramble format, which is a fun and great format for a variety of skill levels. The event will have a Men’s & Ladies’ division. There will be on course contests and Net & Gross awards presented at the conclusion of the round. Tee Times will begin at 10:00 a.m.
On the second Tuesday of every month, we host a Ladies Play with a Pro Day, when ladies meet on the range for a complimentary 30minute clinic. Following the clinic, we tee off the first hole at 10:00 a.m. All skill levels are welcome, and you have the option to play 9 or 18 holes. We meet this Tuesday, January 12!
We had a great day January 6 with 38 players participating in our annual Ford Team Scramble! Congratulations to Char Hand and Denise Thompson for winning our Ladies’ Division with a Net score of 69 (-3). Congratulations to Bob Zerbe and Bob McNamara for winning our Men’s Division with a Net score of 62 (-10). Excellent playing!
Doggy Play Day is always a hit Friday afternoons at the Pecan Grove. Dogs get some off-leash exercise and play while members socialize with friends. Water bowls and complimentary doggy treats are available!

Members: Join us for our First Annual Great Ogeechee River Race! Test your kayaking skills with a 1.5 mile round trip sprint from the mouth of the Marina up the Ogeechee River and beneath the railway bridge and back. Who is racing, who is chasing, who is placing? If you don’t want to join in on the race, no problem! Still come down to help cheer on your fellow members and line the marina canal!
Members: Come join in on the fun of the classic sport of sporting clays. Whether you are an advanced shooter or beginner, join our licensed instructors for a great time of shooting and fellowship at Dorchester Shooting Preserve. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. on the following dates: January 15, February 5, February 26, March 12, and March 26.
For the first year ever, we are the official compiler for the National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count in the Richmond Hill area! This important role means that we will be serving both our community and researchers abroad with data from our count that will help guide important decisions about these species, from habitat inclusion to state funding!
One of the great things about being a kid at Ford are our Kids Camps! This Thanksgiving, kids ages 5-12 get to join our naturalist in giving thanks for the nature around us in our half-day Thanksgiving Kids Camp! Kids will enjoy a fun afternoon of games, crafts, and learning, and a campfire s'mores roast will complete outdoor adventures.
20 players competed in Ford’s first Pickleball tournament Thanksgiving Week. Viggy and Ryan Hampton took first place, Jane Druten and her son-in-law Matt Eckles took second, and Rory Corrigan and Kim Opsahl took third. It was a tremendous success and enjoyed by all!

Members: Please save your Christmas trees for the Outdoor Pursuit Department. They are partnering with the Boy Scouts to make fish habitats for the inner lakes. This year’s tree may produce next year’s trophy! Please call Ogeechee Outfitters, and we will pick your tree up.
We would like to congratulate Stephen Rabinowitz (photo, third from left) and Jack Shafer (fourth from left) on becoming the 2020 Men’s Member / Member Champions. They posted a fantastic score of Net 134 over the two days of play. Our runners up were Chris Hurd (second from left) and Dennis Zoufaly (left), who fought very hard and came up one stroke short, shooting net 135 over the two days. Great playing! We would also like to congratulate Melanie Culver (third from right) a...nd Peggy Gillenwater (fourth from right) on becoming the 2020 Ladies’ Member / Member Champions. They posted an impressive net 145 over the two days of play. Robin Allen (second from right) and Ellen O’Bannon (right) were our runners up this year with a net 147. Closest to the Pin Winners (Friday and Saturday combined): Hole 4: Bill Maloney 4' 6" Hole 12: Robin Allen 13' 7" Hole 17: Dwight Davies 16' This was our biggest Member / Member participation EVER, so THANK YOU all for coming out for two beautiful days here at Ford!

We had a fantastic couple of days for our 2020 Club Championship. Congratulations to Tripp Coggins for shooting even par over two days and becoming our Club Champion for the fifth year in a row. Great playing Tripp! Our Senior Club Champion is Bill Thompson with a total gross score of 164 over the two days. This is Bill’s first ever Senior Club Championship win! Our Ladies Club Champion is Peggy Gillenwater with a total gross score of 181 over the two days. This is Peggy’s first Ladies Club Championship win since 2014!

Naturalist Brittany Dodge recently led a group of members on an exploration of Bonaventure Cemetery on Segways(!). They enjoyed both history and nature in Bonaventure, one of the most serene and picturesque places in Savannah.
Here is one of our youngest members at Ford-Livi loved her first time riding a horse! She was a champ and can’t wait to ride Will again!
