"Service is the rent that one pays for living. That’s a statement that I have made for a number of years and I really believe that a person has the opportunity ...to serve if he pleases or she pleases. I think if a person doesn’t serve, then that person is behind on his rent to life. -Dr. Ira Hicks Georgia Ag Ed is saddened by the loss of Dr. Hicks. "Dr. Hicks is considered an iconic figure in the history of Georgia Agricultural Education. He was instrumental in the history of the New Farmers of America, Camp John Hope, FFA, and Fort Valley State University. He was a long-time teacher educator at FVSU and had a very positive influence on my Ag Teacher and many others. I appreciate Dr. Hicks' years of contribution to our profession and his passion for Agricultural Education." -Mr. Billy Hughes https://footnote.wordpress.ncsu.edu//service-is-the-rent-/
