Congratulations to Chief Williams!

Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs 18.05.2021

Please help us congratulate our newly promoted fire executive staff! Assistant Fire Chief Kirk Crumpton has been with the fire department since 2004 and is resp...onsible for fire department operations. He will directly oversee the Fire Captains, shift commanders, and direct policy and procedures for operations. He also manages our logistics (uniforms, tools, equipment, etc.), and assists with communications, EMA, special events, and other tasks. Fire Training Chief, Charles Mundy has been with the department since 2005 and is directly responsible for fire department training. He will ensure that all three operations shifts are training in the same manner and oversee the fire training center that we are building. Additionally, Chief Mundy manages the departments fire reporting software and provides emergency response statistics on a monthly basis (or whenever needed). Fire Prevention Chief, Ephraim Wheeler has been with the department since 1999 and is directly responsible for the department’s community risk reduction (fire prevention education) program. He will coordinate fire safety education for children and adults, including the fire safety poster contest. One of our goals is to work with the Communication Department to have a fresh safety message on social media at least weekly. #WhereGeorgiaComesTogether

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has tapped Roderick Jolivette as the county’s next fire chief. BOC unanimously approved Jolivette to replace former fire chief Scott Spencer, who retired earlier this year after 44 years of service. Jolivette has 40 years in public service.

Many thanks to all of our legislators that helped pass this monumental bill for public safety. The fire service has been pushing for this for many years here in Georgia.

With regrets, Firefighter Recognition Day initially planned for 2/2 has been canceled. The Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC) and the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) prioritizes the safety and health of our 4,000 members, staff, the business community, and all firefighters across the state are our top priority as we continue to monitor COVID-19. Both associations are working on a plan to present the 2020 Award Winners. The Proclamation, generally presented at the Firefighter Recognition Day, will be presented in September at the 2021 Georgia Fire Service Conference in Rome. More information about that conference to come soon.
