Today, artist Jacqueline Clay Chester shares about her studio and what mediums she enjoys working with: At the moment, my home is my studio. I work in clay and have those finished pieces fired at a local art store. Once fired, I use acrylic paint and metallic paint to finish the bas relief sculpture. It is a lovely creative process."
Today in our Artist Spotlight, Jacqueline Clay Chester shares where she finds her inspiration and how her play, "Here Again" came to be. "Like all of us, I am curious about life. I have been fortunate to find myself a witness to inspiring situations and personalities. Also, lessons in my own life or the lives of others, make for inspiring stories one can ponder and expand on. I have learned I must also have open eyes about people who are unlike and different from me. As hum...ans there is a common thread so to have an interest in others is to be inspired by the road they also travel. During one summer in Atlanta I wrote a play called, Here, Again. Five actors and myself decided to tour libraries in metro Atlanta . We wanted audiences, especially children and young people, to see what a play had to go through before being seen on television. Meanwhile, I sent the script to a New York City Festival and Here, Again, was selected. The bylaws were that I could only use New York actors and not bring my Georgia actors. So the flyer below tells it all. I had an excellent New York City cast. It was an excellent production."
We asked our featured artist, Jacqueline Clay Chester, to share a bit more about who she is and what she’s currently up to today. Ms. Chester writes, My first opportunity to be in the spotlight was winning a high school beauty contest. I was seventeen and voted Ms. Charles Evans Hughes, to an auditorium of screaming teenaged well-wishers! After graduating I attended college at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). I modeled for their design students in FIT’s ...fashion shows. Eventually I was selected as a runway model for a seven-week fashion show in Moscow, Russia. Later I joined a talent agency which led to TV commercials, acting roles, roles as product spokespersons, etc. I have even posed as a live model for a class of art students and artists. I am opening Jacqueline Clay Chester’s Production Company where I will produce theatrical plays, audio books, readings, etc. See more
