Wednesday Win - This week we want to celebrate the outstanding outcome we obtained in an H-2B petition for 8 temporary workers needed in the US poultry business. A company hired us due to the need for seasonal laborers for the poultry season. We were able to petition on behalf of 8 foreign nationals, successfully obtaining H-2B status.... Despite the presidential proclamation banning the issuance of H-2B visas, we succeeded in having these visas issued by showing that these workers are essential workers and are vital to the US supply chain. Today, USCIS announced that premium processing fees of I-129 and I-140 forms will increase by close to 75 percent. Therefore, premium processing costs will go from $1,440 to $2,500. Only H-2B and R-1 petitions will slightly increase from $1,440 to $1,500. The announcement will be effective as of Monday, October 19, 2020; foreign nationals, attorneys and U.S. companies were given less than one business day notice to face the fee increase. Indeed, any I129 or I-140 petition th...at is postmarked on or after Monday, October 19, will be rejected and returned to the employer if it does not include the new fee. Telephonic Attorney Representation at USCIS Interviews In June, USCIS resumed limited face-to-face services to the general public, including rescheduling of interviews for various applications. It enacted several precautions to limit the spread of Covid-19, including a health screening upon entry into the building. Further, USCIS now allows attorney representatives to participate in the interview telephonically.
