GCI Broadband

This outage affected Gunby Communications and all our GCI Broadband customers. Even though none of our internet distribution system was down, we fielded hundreds of calls from our customers. Quite an interesting day. Our NGN connections seem to stabilize late yesterday evening. As of this morning, it appears our NGN connections are back to normal. NGN has been an extremely reliable internet provider to GCI Broadband. This was a very unusual event. However, no internet provi...der is immune to temporary service disruptions. During this event, our phones, credit card processing and other essential operations were not affected. We keep a low cost cellular data plan active and connected to our office network as a backup to our NGN provided internet. Yesterday, the cellular backup worked exactly as intended and we were able to continue to field customer calls and process customer invoicing. See more

The only difference between the first test and second test was to move closer to the wireless router....A poor quality wireless connection with any inside device will affect the quality of the internet connection for all devices. Whenever possible wire your inside devices for a better internet experience...
