March is colorectal cancer awareness month. We thank our Governor Brian Kemp for declaring a proclamation to increase the awareness of this very preventable cancer. We appreciate his commendation about our practice & the Endoscopy center . Colorectal cancer is easily preventable, treatable & curable. However, being a silent cancer , it remains as the second most common Killer in the country out of all the cancers. Please check your colon if you are 45 years or older, have a family history of colorectal cancer , have symptoms or have conditions which place you at a higher risk. COVID-9 's initial symptoms can be of digestive origin ( Diarrhea, Nausea, vomiting & stomach pains) up to 30% of the patients . And when these symptoms are present , outcome is worse. Please have a high index of suspicion if one develops unexplained Gastro issues out of blue. Fecal route transmission of virus also has been confirmed . So, wash your hands THOROUGHLY even if you use plenty of famously hoarded toilet paper! https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/927112

Gwinnett Digestive Clinic & GDC Endoscopy Center convey their condolence to Ms Erica Hoffman's family. We lost an ardent colon cancer advocate, Erica Hoffman ( 3rd from left) who fiercely battled against advanced colon cancer. She will be missed by us for her beautiful smile, incredible voice, gracious attitude & warm soul, but we are thankful and inspired by how she lived and fought against the cancer. Heaven has gained another bright angel. Our prayers for Erica’s husband and her family. Rest in Peace with the God.

A very gratifying way to end this month - colon cancer awareness month - reading an amazing inspirational story of a colon cancer survivor . Dr Indrakrishnan had the Honor of meeting the president of Powered by Hope organization, Teri Griege in person at the colon cancer awareness celebration at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Then it was a pleasant surprise to him to receive her signed book by mail! . Highly recommend this book to the colon and other cancer survivors & the caregivers! Thank you and God bless you Teri!
