Georgia Tech ASCE

Civil and environmental engineers are dedicated to helping people. In most cases, this comes in the form of maintaining and improving the infrastructure around us. But our obligation is not limited to improving the built environment. The brutal killing of George Floyd was the result of a system that has perpetuated and thrived off of oppression for far too long. This horrifying act has ignited anger, frustration, and passion in people around the world, us included. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." We cannot build sustainable communities or improve the human condition without diversity, equity, and inclusion. We call upon our members to take the time to listen, learn, and act in this fight against racial and criminal injustice.
