Autism has touched my life in so many ways, both professionally and personally. I am so fortunate to have a career that I love and passionate about. I also have had the opportunity to meet amazing professionals along the way and feel supported by so many. It takes a village. We work together to utilize our knowledge, skills, love, and compassion to assist our clients and their families to continue to develop, mature, and fulfill their potential; thrive in their home, community, and educational settings; and provide families with the emotional support they need as they face challenges along the way. We take it one day at a time. ~ Dr. Jaymie Fox #autism #autismawareness www.georgiaautismcenter.com

Putting the pieces together, being a source of support, and making sure my families know exactly what is needed to help their child and family are so important to me. Instilling hope and showing through my actions that I'm in their corner and I hear them means everything to me. Working with children with ASD is a unique experience that I love more and more every day. ~ Dr. April Coleman #autism #autismawareness www.georgiaautismcenter.com

Given the current state of our country and the increases in COVID19 cases within the United States, we are aware of how this is affecting all of us and our families. If you have an upcoming appointment at GAC, please keep in mind that if you have traveled outside of the country or you or anyone within your household is experiencing any symptoms of COVID19, including fever, coughing, and shortness of breath, we are asking that you cancel your appointment and reschedule at a la...ter time in order to protect us as providers, our staff, and any other families that are within our office during the week. At this time, health and safety is of utmost priority. Please know that you will not be charged any last minute cancellation fees should this be the case for your family. If you are planning to attend your appointment, please know that we are taking extra precautions within our office to ensure the safety of everyone. This includes requiring any of our employees to stay at home if they are sick and experiencing acute respiratory symptoms and not returning until until they are free of fever, signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines. We are also making sure healthy employees (including us as providers) are washing and sanitizing our hands before and after sessions with families, sanitizing and wiping down testing materials, tables, chairs, and other items within the testing room before and after each appointment, limiting the amount of people within our waiting areas, and requiring everyone who enters the office to wash their hands and sanitize and also to do the same before exiting. If anyone comes for an appointment (including any accompanying family member who is not being seen), who appears ill, we will be asking them to leave immediately and to reschedule for a later time in order to prevent the spread of any germs within the office. Please take care during this stressful and uncertain time and do not hesitate to reach out to us should you have any questions or concerns.

Is your child already diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? Are you pregnant or planning to get pregnant and wondering what the risk of ASD will be in your baby? The risk of an ASD in your newborn is increased when they have a first-degree relative diagnosed with autism. The Lurie Center is conducting a multicenter study to understand the many factors that contribute to the development of Autism Spectrum Disorders. A major aim of the study is to identify biomarker... predictors (in the blood, stool, urine or saliva) of ASD in at-risk infants. Newborns and infants who have a first-degree relative (sibling) with diagnosed ASD are eligible to participate. The study involves the collection of blood, stool, urine and saliva samples from your infant over a three-year period. For more information, visit the GEMMA website or contact Sammy Devane at (617) 643-6918.
