Medicare Advantage Plan enrollment doubles in the last decade. According to the Kaiser Foundation, enrollment in Medicare Advantage plans has doubled in the past decade, with nearly 40% of all beneficiaries receiving their Medicare benefits through an Advantage plan. Some contribute the rise in enrollment to the restructuring of payments to Medicare Advantage, along with bonuses given to plans with higher quality ratings, which has motivated the plans to be more efficient, w...hich in turn lowers costs for Medicare recipients, while improving quality of care. In fact, according to Kaiser, half of all Medicare enrollees would incur higher costs than beneficiaries in traditional Medicare for a 5 day hospital stay. For those wondering about Medicare Advantage, these plans replace your original Medicare Parts A & B (hospital and medical coverage) as they are rolled into one plan and are offered to you by top health insurers contracted with Medicare. Depending on what coverage (plan) you select, you may have ZERO premiums, with no, or low copays. Some plans include additional benefits you need, like dental, vision, hearing and prescription drug coverage.
