Join us for Rotary’s World Polio Day Online Global Update World Polio Day is 24 October! The theme for this year’s World Polio Day is: A win against polio is a win for global health. The program will offer details about Rotary and our partners’ efforts to fight polio, including the eradication of wild poliovirus in the African region, and show how the investment in ending polio is critical for other global health initiatives, such as the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. W...atch the program on 24 October. Rotary clubs plan virtual World Polio Day events Each year for World Polio Day, Rotarians and Rotaractors around the globe host events and plan activities to show their commitment to ending polio forever. Despite limitations on holding in-person events in some parts of the world this year, clubs are finding creative ways to raise awareness and funds for polio eradication by connecting virtually.

Rotarians support Gilmer High School Wrap-Around program with a grant to fund it. On September 28, our first in-person Rotary meeting of the current Rotary year was held outdoors in River Park. Gilmer High School Principal Carla Foley was presented a check for this year's District Matching Grant to support the school's Wrap-around services to meet student needs. The check, in the amount of $5200, was presented by Foundation Chair Penelope Marshall. Following the presentation of the check, Principal Foley expressed appreciation to Rotarians and reviewed some of the uses to which the funds would be applied.

On September 16 Rotary Club of Gilmer County received 840 boxes containing 20 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables from the USDA Farmers to Families program. The truck arrived at the Ellijay office of Amicalola EMC at 1 pm and by 5 pm that day the load of food had been donated to Gilmer residents, the community Food Pantry, the Senior Center, Boys and Girls Club, the Housing Authority, and several other service entities in Gilmer County. Our thanks to Rotarians and staff from Amicalola EMC and all our partner organizations.
