Chi Psi is proud to announce it's 2nd Annual Waffle Lodge! Stop by Saturday the 18th during "Wet Day" for a delicious night full of waffles and sweets All proceeds will go towards feeding the hungry. The Atlanta Community Food Bank has stated that only $1 = 4 whole meals. Tickets are $5 at the door. Let's make a difference

The website will state that the application window is closed. This does not apply to the Plunkett Scholarship. In the future all should consider applying for the national scholarships as well. Questions? : Message me! In Depth: The Robert B. Plunkett Memorial Educational Trust, Inc. is the educational foundation for Alpha Iota Delta of Chi Psi Fraternity as set forth in the Bylaws of Chi Psi Fraternity. As such, the Plunkett Trust promotes education and scholarship in general and individual excellence and cultural development in particular at the Alpha. The Plunkett Trust awards the Plunkett Scholarship. This scholarship is the main award of the Plunkett Trust. It is awarded annually to one or more recipients as chosen by the trustees of the Plunkett Trust. The Plunkett Scholarship criteria is based on four categories: (1) Chi Psi service, (2) GPA, (3) campus and community activities, and (4) a personal statement. The personal statement should be short and should detail the applicant’s Chi Psi service, his campus and community activities, state why he deserves the scholarship and how he intends to use the funds. The GPA requested should be the applicant’s cumulative GPA. The scholarship amount will vary from year to year. This year, 2020, the amount of the scholarship is $4,000.00. Applications are accepted annually from August 1 to September 1. The scholarship is awarded in the fall during Homecoming Weekend at the Lodge. To be eligible to receive the Plunkett Scholarship the Brother must be an active member of Alpha Iota Delta who will be a junior or senior as of September 1 of the year of the award. Prior winners of the scholarship award are not eligible to reapply. Applications will be submitted through the national Chi Psi Educational Trust’s online scholarship application portal.

Last on our officer spotlight is our new #4 Divij Sachdeva, a rising third year Computer Science major from New Delhi, India. Divij is an athletic individual who loves watching sports like football, soccer, basketball and baseball and loves playing soccer and working out. On campus, he is also involved with GT Campus Recreation and GT Big Data Big Impact. "As an international student, Chi Psi represents a home away from home. I didn't have anyone I knew when I moved to the US... but now I have a group of guys who are my family. It has encouraged me to be a better person for myself, my friends and family and society as a whole." As #4, Divij is determined to manage finances better with a better approach to allocation of budgets to various chair positions. We are excited to see what Divij brings to the table and would like to congratulate him on his new position!

Next up on our Officer Spotlight is our new #3, Pritish Tarafdar from Swarthmore, PA. He is a rising third year Computer Science major with a minor in Physics. Pritish has been singing for a few years, has been a part of GT Chorale for the past few semesters and plans on joining GT Chamber Choir soon. He is also an amazing software engineer and loves to develop his own apps and mods. "Chi Psi represents finding true friendship and building bonds beyond common interest. While... our fraternal bonds are unique, I hope we all can learn to transfer the way we've learned to connect to everyone we meet throughout the rest of our lives." As #3, Pritish hopes to bring unity to all of our events throughout the Fall semester. Generally, he just wants to be there as a guiding hand to our new event chairs and as a leader that can communicate between them. We congratulate Pritish on all his achievements and are excited to see him take the reigns as our secretary!

To continue our #OfficerSpotlight, we have our new #2 Noah Horton from Macon, GA. Noah is majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Music Technology. Noah is an amazing musician who loves singing and playing guitar. He is also a member of Georgia Tech's Chamber Choir and the premier all male Acapella group Sympathetic Vibrations. "Being a Chi Psi means loving my brothers and being there for them in their hard times because I know they've been there for mine. After all, Chi Psi is my family on campus. Having the privilege of being a leader in this fraternity is an important extension of this love; it means that I am more able to pour myself into helping my brothers." Noah's main priority as #2 is to keep Lodge in the best possible shape and make it feel like home for all the brothers.

To introduce our new officers to you all, we start our new weekly series #OfficerSpotlight. First we have our new #1 - Nikesh Patel from Mendota, Illinois. Nikesh is a rising 4th year studying Industrial and Systems Engineering. In his free time, Nikesh loves to read, do some boxing, go out hiking and just chill with his brothers and friends. He pledged Chi Psi in Fall of 2017 and has been an incredibly active brother ever since. "To me, being a chi psi means being a leader..., as well as spreading positivity and showing respect, to those around me. I believe my role as the president is to reflect these exact ideals on our campus and to be a role model for the new members." As #1, Nikesh intends to get more brothers involved in campus leadership positions like IFC, SGA and other student organizations

Our brothers are trying their best to be productive during these hard times by either doing what they love or learning something new. To acknowledge their amazing efforts, we start our new weekly series #QuarantineCam First up we have Brian Castro! Brian loves baking and has generally baked treats for the brotherhood quite often at the Lodge. This week he made some delicious chocolate chip cookies for him and his family. Great job Brian, these look very tasty and tempting! Try and stay productive during this quarantine while staying inside and safe!

Last on our Grad-Cam for this year is Isaiah Wilson from Hampton, GA who is graduating with a Bachelor's in Architecture. Isaiah is an amazing artist and he used those skills for our brotherhood as our SWAG and Merchandise Chairman for Spring 2018 term. "Being a brother of Chi Psi has taught me a lot about what it means to apart of a family and what it means to be a part of something bigger than yourself. I can't imagine what my time as an undergraduate student would have bee...n like without the brothers that I've come to know over the years. I'm thankful for everyone of you, and that know the brotherhood will prosper for years to come." Isaiah will be coming back to Georgia Tech to pursue a Master's in Architecture this Fall. We would like to congratulate Isaiah on his amazing achievements and are excited to see him back on campus in August!

Next on our Grad-Cam is Ted Shang from Marietta, GA who graduated with a Bachelor's in Computer Science. After pledging in Fall 2017, during 3 years as a brother, Ted held the positions of Philanthropy Chair, Lodge Manager and Academic Chairman. "It was an amazing decision and privilege to be a brother Chi Psi. I grew intellectually, morally, and socially, and I'd do it again if I could. I love Lodge and all of my brothers" Ted will be working with Epic Healthcare Systems in Wisconsin after graduation as a Software Engineer. We wish him all the best for the future and look forward to seeing him at the Lodge as an alum.

To continue our Grad-Cam, we have Justin Steiner from Burke, VA, who graduated with Bachelor's in Material Science and Engineering with highest honor. Justin pledged in Spring 2016 and he has been a great leader, holding positions of #1, #2 and #4. He was also Brotherhood Chair in Fall 16. "Chi Psi at Georgia Tech has been a home away from home for me for four years. In that time, it has helped me grow in many ways: as a leader, student, friend, and citizen. I had the opportu...nity to hold multiple officer positions, which gave me tremendous practical experience in being a leader. The support I received from brothers while pursuing my goal to be an officer in the Marine Corps was unending, and I'm proud to say I commissioned on May 3, 2020. If you want to better yourself and your college experience, joining Chi Psi is the way to go." Justin will be serving as Marine Corps Officer post graduation. We thank him for everything he has achieved and for his service to this great nation!

Next up on our Grad-Cam is Jordan Leahey from Villa-Rica, GA who is graduating in Computer Science with a concentration in Intelligence and Information Internetworks. Jordan has been very active through his 4.5 years as a Chi Psi brother and he held the positions of Academic Chairman, Social Chairman, Steward and Wellness Club Chairman. "Joining a fraternity isn't something I really thought I would do, but I sure am glad I did. I have met some of the best people and made some lifelong friends and that would not have been possible without Chi Psi." Jordan will be joining his pledge brother Drew as a Consultant at Slalom in Atlanta, GA. We are proud of everything Jordan did for this brotherhood and wish him the best for the future!

First up on our Grad-Cam is Andrew Teachout from Atlanta, GA. He is graduating with a Bachelor's in Computer Science concentrating in Intelligence and Media. During his 4.5 years as a Chi Psi brother, Drew was #1, #4, Brotherhood Chairman and Steward. His leadership and hardwork was admired immensely by both brothers and alumni. "Chi Psi had a profound impact on my undergraduate experience. I'm thankful for the leadership skills I gained, the responsibility I undertook, and m...ost importantly the life long bonds of friendship and brotherhood. I can't wait to continue to be a part of this brotherhood for a lifetime." Drew will be in Atlanta following graduation, working as a Consultant at Slalom. He looks forward to coming back to tailgates as an alumni and getting to see old friends. We would like to congratulate Drew for all his achievements and wish him all the best for his future endeavours!

Last week we conducted an alpha meeting via zoom to check up on our brothers during this pandemic and conduct our semesterly elections and our annual awards. We've had a busy past couple of weeks! Homecoming was a blast, and we loved having the chance to meet and converse with all the alumni that were able to attend our Homecoming tailgate and alumni reception.
